Only open for a couple days we gave it a try for a lunch sandwich and the much talked about donuts. I noted some 5 star reviews which is hard to accept when down the road there is a Chateau Relaix Inn that is truly 5 star and this is a coffee shop !
The building was previously The Breakers which had some superb sandwiches (which I dearly miss).
We shared a veggie sandwich from the short offering of sandwiches. Mistake. It was 90% bread (good bread though) and 10% veg. A couple paper thin slices of cucumber, a slice of tomato, a piece of lettuce, some mayo and a couple slivers of red and green pepper. Until I see someone with a hearty veggie sandwich in their hand I will hesitate to try again.
I read the burrito is good (I trust it has more filling than the sandwich) but did not see anyone having one during this lunch stop.
The chocolate donut with salted caramel sauce was quite good. A bit dry, but it is baked and not deep fried. Dipped in chocolate, then topped with some caramel sauce it tasted pretty good. A sprinkle of coarse sea salt would have put it over the top.
In a small town sprinkled with a dozen or more coffee shops the competition is uphill.
Compared to some other coffee spots in town, I can only give Rhino 3 stars.
Nice that they have tables to sit at inside which Breakers lacked.
I'll go back and try the burrito, but will wait until I hear a review from someone I know.
