A great place to chill for a few hours and good for a lunch stop as an extra with produce from the gardens used. It is only small but much thought seems to have gone into its quirky and fun layout.
Your entrance gives a three day reusable ticket, we were in the area for three days so we went back for lunch, better than the one we had in town! Free wi-fi also. Tofino is quite a small place so it was nice to find this little charmer.

“Tofino Botanical Gardens????”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

My wife and I have visited many a botanical garden living in Arizona and to call this one was a major reach. Not being from BC or Vancouver Island we were hoping to learn about all the different plant life that lives there. I would say 90% of the plants were not even labeled, likely for us my wife loves to garden and therefore could at least recognize any plants that grow in the lower 48. It cost $10.00 and maybe took 10 minutes for the complete tour. It was maybe worth $2.00 at the most. Don't wast your time.

“Small botanical garden”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

Nice enough, i suppose, all paths lead back to centre. Quite small and can be seen in a short time, you can walk down to the shore. Unusual in that very few flowers mainly foliage which in some ways made it a little dull. Not sure why they had old camper van stuck in one corner and some strange things spread around. Nice cafe and friendly staff, but not worth the money they charge to go in.

“A lovely place to chill....”
Reviewed September 6, 2013

It is perhaps a pity that the term 'botanical' has been included in the gardens' name, because it then immediately conjures up the likes of Butchart Gardens et al.

Not so this place, however, it IS a delightful place to spend and hour or so, just pottering round the pathways, admiring the viewpoints and generally taking some time out to chill in this lovely place.

I overheard some of the staff discussing, quite animatedly, about the new changes which were going to be made in the gardens. Such is the enthusiasm of people that work in these types of places...it's great!

Darwin's cafe offer lovely refreshments and snacks - friendly staff to serve you. Just sit out on the veranda and wind down.

OK it costs you $10 to get in.....but that also allows you to return a few times in subsequent days.

No, it's not a nationally award winning space....but, it is very lovely all the same!

“eco gardens”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

this is not Tofino's answer to Kew but a preserved and developing area of the natural temperate rainforest. So don't expect lots of pretty flowers but do expect to learn about the natural flora. Sculptures blend in well, the chickens are fun and the coffee is good
