“Great Food and Staff”
Reviewed April 7, 2014

My husband and I had a getaway weekend and were very happy with our stay in a standard 2 queen bed room. The room was clean with basic furnishings but included a microwave and a fridge with cream for your coffee. The staff and the restaurant were outstanding. The decor in the restaurant was very warm and and we loved the recycled beach garbage made into whimsical oystercatchers! We had an Groupon coupon for our stay and we would come back again. My husband says he would drive the 3 hours just to eat the Jambalaya! Chesterman Beach is just a 10 minute walk and Tofino is about 4 km.

Room Tip: We had a room on the forest side on the third floor. It was very quiet and had a great forest view...

Jamie's Rainforest Inn, being connected to Jamie's Whaling Station, offered us an excellent deal for a two-night stay, plus $50 Restaurant Voucher, plus whale-watching tour for two. The staff - Jill, Andrew, Anna, and Ryan - were friendly, knowledgable and extremely helpful with setting up our tour as well as providing us with local knowledge of outdoor pursuits.
The rooms were very clean, comfortable, and quiet. We ate dinner there too, and the cook accommodated our meal for vegetarians and it was absolutely delicious (ask for the mushroom burger-paddy!).
All in all, we were very pleased and will definitely stay there again on our next visit.

Stayed here a few times, it's getting better and better every time. Front staff, house keeping, management and all other staff are very friendly, helpful and very welcoming.
The rooms are brand new and clean. The new restaurant and the food have blown me away. Certainly did not expect my expectations to be surpassed by this much. Definitely a "must-eat-here-no-need-to-go-somewhere-else" kinda place.
Amazingly west coast! My advice to people: go whale watching, drink local beer and eat at Jamie's.

The room was tastefully decorated, not ornate. Very clean, comfortable, good toiletries, real cream and milk for the complementary tea and coffee.
The staff were universally friendly, informative, knowledgeable, and efficient.
One of the most impressive things for someone interested in protecting our planet, it is one of the very few hotels that actually does leave hanging towels for reuse. When asked to just make the bed instead of replacing the linens, they did!
The restaurant is comfortable, good food, unbelievably good in-house made kettle chips to die for.
We were there for the Pacific Coast Whale festival and the hotel participated actively in supporting this important event. They have an easy trail outside the back door that leads to the inlet and the protected mud flats.

While inquiring about rooms rates I was given 2 very different prices on 2 different phone calls buy someone who had very little manners. After check-in we realized that our room had no phone, no cell service and no wireless internet this left us feeling trapped. We had dinner in the restaurant on our first night, we were not happy with one of our dishes. When we mentioned this to our server he was very hostile " Well.... What to you want ME to do?" We replied buy asking for a condiment. This took 15 min. After trying to pay the bill for quite some time or server ask us " do we want change? Or is the rest my tip?" Rude!!!

While booking our stay I made sure was very clear on all of my costs! While checking out the front desk tried to charge me for an extra whale watching, I informed them of my price quote that I had received ( twice) they accused me of being a scammer and refusing to pay for services that I have already received. I left the lobby in tears after this public humiliation only to realize that with in the hour they refunded me the first charge and recharged me the quoted price. When I called to have an explanation, I was told that is was there mistake..... I was right the hole time. Zero customer service !!! Making a woman cry while traveling with her children for your mistake isn't just bad service it is very bad karma...

We ate at the restaurant four times over the one weekend we stated with Jamie's Rainforest Inn. The food was soo inconsistent it was hard to expect what to get out of the kitchen. One time breakfast was not bad, though their hollandaise sauce was horrible. Next time our omlets were both burnt and had to wait 35 mins to get a remake. Then we also had dinner twice. The Pad Thai was really not a Pad Thai, and the price of their Tapas was a lil outrageous for what you actually got served. Though my salmon dinner the next time around was done great. And my wife's cobb salad was good. The rooms were ok for the price, but the service with front desk and room keeping was very slack!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share a review of your experience with us!

We are sincerely sorry that you found our food to range anywhere from “horrible” to “inconsistent”; but are happy to know that you were able to enjoy at least a couple items off our menu (such as the salmon dinner, and Cobb salad).

It is also a disappointment to note that you found the service in both our front desk and housekeeping departments to be “slack”; especially as the customer service provided by our front desk team is something we are continually commended on.

We hope that we will have an opportunity to redeem ourselves should you choose to join us again for another stay!

Warm Regards,

The Staff at Jamie’s Rainforest Inn
