Reviewed August 12, 2013

Our travel agents could only offer this one hotel near Tofino but even though the hotel was very pink and old fashioned at the time of booking, we figured that it was just a place to sleep and have breakfast so we didn't mind. We were quite pleased when the hotel changed hands and the pink was eradicated! What we weren't pleased about was being told at check-in that the restaurant still wasn't available - 6 months after the takeover, we feel that it should have been a priority - particularly in time for the Summer season. It was a nuisance having to go out to find a supermarket after a very long and tiring day travelling, in order to find plastic bowls, cutlery and cereal for breakfast the following 2 mornings.
Our twin room was very large, clean and comfortable with a nice path at the back that led through the forest to the inlet. The hotel is easy to find on the main road to Tofino and there is a very large car park.
Not so good points; no kettle and an extremely small area to make drinks or breakfast. No iron/ironing board in the room. No basin plug and the basin had a large crack in it. We could not lock the back door from the outside if we wanted to walk to the inlet and although there is obscure glass on the back door I feel a curtain or blind should be fitted to give more privacy to the room. No mirror in the bedroom. The doors are very thin and we were disturbed constantly by people talking in the corridor.
All in all, I probably would not recommend this hotel as it is at the moment but hopefully by next Summer all the niggles will be sorted and I may return for another look.

My husband and I had the good fortune to stay for 3 nights at Jamie's Rainforest Inn in Tofino, BC. It was a lovely hotel. Staff were more than accommodating and went out of their way to help us find good food and direct us to interesting and wonderful sights in the area. They also helped my husband organize a fishing trip and were very helpful with making this happen.
The hotel itself is lovely. Very modern and clean with all the comforts of home and more. We stayed in the deluxe king suite which was just lovely. Very comfortable bed and we were able to cook in the room which was great as we did have fresh salmon one night that my husband caught that day. Overall excellent experience and would highly recommend this hotel. We will stay there again on our next visit to Tofino. Thank you.

Stayed two nights at Jamie's Rainforest Inn as part of a stop-over to see the black bears and go whale watching. As another reviewer has already said, the Inn appears to have been recently modernised and decorated. Our room, number 6, was a large spacious room fitted with two well sized comfortable queen beds with 4 pillows and soft bedding. The beds are comfortable and my wife and I would score them a 7-8 out of 10. The room comes with a on-suite bath/ shower combo and a separate sink/ vanity area at the end of the bedroom. There is also a small kitchenette area with a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The TV is a good size with a good selection of channels. The Inn is located about 2 miles from the centre of Tofino and backs on to its own private part of the forest with paths that lead down to the shoreline. The walk is only a 20 minute round trip but it's very pleasant. The rooms at the rear of the Inn back on to the wood and there a BBQs available for public use. Our room backed on to a small courtyard, which is not particularly attractive but equally it's not an eye-sore. We only spent about 3 hours in total at the Inn outside of sleeping there so positioning of the room was not an issue. The Inn is conveniently located about 20 minutes walk from MacKenzie Beach, which is very picturesque and provides a nice area for a beach stroll. On checking in, we were met by Thea who was polite and helpful. She talked us through the local map and highlighted areas of interest to us. All staff we encountered subsequently were bright and cheerful and one our second day Ryan went out of his way to arrange a refund against the booking we had made with Jamie's Whaling Station; we'd already received a discount of $20 per person for booking a second whale watching trip after bear watching but staying at the Inn entitles you to a discount closer to 30% of the overall advertised price inluding extras. The hotel is not the same quality as you will find with the international chain-type hotels in Vancouver and Victoria but it is homely, clean, well kitted and in a nice location. A reasonably good discount at Jamie's Whaling Station makes the Inn a great option if you are in Tofino for the bear and whale watching. Very happy with rservation made by our travel operator, would stay here again.

We planned to stay for two nights and had a plesant experience. They offer $30 off a whale watching your which was a nice bonus because we weren't expecting it. The discount should have been displayed before hand as it would have made the choice of hotels that much easier. On our whale watching trip we saw two groups of grey whales; many of them showed their tails and one of the groups was mating! On out way back from seeing the sea lions we also got to see a calf jump out if the water multiple times. Our trip was cut a day short due to a family emergency and the staff were very understanding and let us cancel our second day without penalty. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a reasonable rate at a great location.

Looks like the whole place has only recently been modernised. Room and public areas all good. Staff very friendly, and booked whale watching trip for us (with discount). We were in the main building with a rear door leading straight into the rain forest. A barbeque was underway just adjacent to us, but that had finished by 10 p.m. so no worries there. Other than that, very peaceful indeed. When we were there (July 2013) the restaurant was being refurbished, so no on-site food available, but plenty of nearby choices.

We stayed one night after booking after the last minute. They didn't have a hotel room but we rented the full hostel room for $95. Guy at the front desk was super friendly. Place was clean, they provided soap, towels etc. even for just the hostel room. Place had adjustable heat. We were very happy especially after every other place was booked! I would definitely stay there again.

Last time in Tofino was 23 years ago so wasn't sure what to expect! Jamie's was a great place to stay. Very clean and bright, great staff, reasonably priced, nice location. Our room had a fridge and microwave which was very convenient. Beautiful rainforest at the back of the property. Enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the evening. Will be nicer still when their restaurant opens.
