Stayed at Ocean beach resort with my husband for a week in mid June. We were delighted with the accomodations. Clean, cozy and wow what a view.

We just returned from a 3 night stay at this resort and can only say good things about it.
Cabin: As in my title, it was clean, quiet & cozy. It was also very well equiped:
-Kitchen had all utensils, bowls, pots, roasting pan (!), juice jugs etc. to make any and all meals. Coffee maker, tea pot & kettle too.
-Bathroom had a very large selection of towels, and yes they were large like at home!! The shower had excellent pressure and enough hot water for 2 showers, or one nice long shower.
-Bedrooms; we had a 2 bedroom, had great pillows, extras in the drawers if needed, warm blankets, not just the usual hotel covers.
-Large kitchen table, comfy sofabed, coffe table etc.
There are no phones and no TV's in any units, all you can hear is the ocean at your doorstep.

Each cabin has a picnic table and two Adirondack chairs in front.

The beach is somewhat protected so there are no huge waves crashing in. It's a long bay with low tides and lots of walking space and exploring to do. The resort next door allows dogs, so there are dogs running lose at times.

The pool and hot tub are super clean and well maintained. It was great to be able to swim some laps!

There is a grocery store, bike rental, surf shop, restaurant about a 2 min away.

(A paved bike path runs to Tofino and to Uclulet)

The Storm season is a great time to visit. There were only two or three other cabins occupied! We didn't actually get to see any storms- just some fog and a bit of rain!

When we mentioned to friends we had booked at this resort, we got only good reviews- many had visited Ocean Village repeatedly over the years!

I can't imagine anyone not enjoying a stay here! Enjoy!

  • Liked — Being right on the beach in a cozy little cabin!
  • Disliked — The energy saving light bulb over the dining room table, it was very white- ouch. (hey, I had to write something)

We stayed and the Ocean Village Resort in October of 2005, and we are planning a trip again this year (2006) also in October.

We have been visiting Tofino for 12 years, but the last 3 have been with children.

We found the cottages at Ocean Village very comfortable for bringing a family. Being that it has a kitchenette, it makes it very easy to pick up some groceries at the CO OP in town and store them for easy cooking of meals. In October, there are not too many restaurants open that time of year, so being able to make meals at the cottage is wonderful.

We spent most of our stay walking and playing on all the different beaches available in the Pacific Rim. For something different, we went into Tofino and the boys enjoyed a fun time playing at the wonderful playground that is there.

October is definitely cooler, so definitely dress accordingly, but it's still a wonderful time of the year to go.

  • Liked — Quiet, Convenient
  • Tips/Secrets — Don't expect a phone, t.v. or radio. So for music bring a little stereo.

My entire family has been staying for 1 week per year at the Ocean Village Beach Resort for approx. 15-20 years or maybe longer...
The cabins are comfortable, and all of them have great views of the pacific ocean. Pay the extra money and stay in the 1 or 2 bedroom waterfront cabins, you wont regret it. You can fall asleep listening to the waves. So RELAXING! The pool/hot tub area is very nice, also the beach is somewhat secluded so you dont get a lot of people showing up and spending the day there. I recomend staying around the 3rd week of July or later....avoid the rain! Tofino is a very small laid back little village. Dont expect anything to fancy here, great fish and chips at lots of places.
So if you are looking for a first class, comfy, relaxing and just overall excellent vacation....you have got to stay at Ocean Village Beach Resort!!!

  • Liked — Just the great views and great staff
  • Disliked — Nothing, everything is great!

We stayed for 6 days in late June. The cabins are very cozy and quiet. Beautiful ocean views as we ate our breakfast every morning on the balcony. The resort is right on Mackenzie Beach which is a secluded spot with little foot traffic. The kids (5 and 8) were able to play in the sand while we relaxed on the balcony and kept an eye on them at the same time.
This is definitely not a resort for "night life seekers". By ten o-clock almost everyones gone to bed!
Great whale watching tour at Jamies Whaling Station in town (5 minutes by car).
We really enjoyed the ruggedness of Tofino and we loved the quiet!

Give yourself extra time for the drive across the island. The road is mountainous and narrow but beautiful none the less!

The only drawback was the lack of affordable family restaurants in town. All in all a wonderful family vacation, were planning a return visit.

A friend and I love Tofino. We stayed at the Ocean Village Resort. You need to know up front that they don't have clocks, telephones or television in the cabins. That is the beauty of it for us. This will be my second trip there and my friend's, third time. She was there in February, 2001. Then we were there last September, 2003 and July, 2004. Whale watching was the highlight of our trip. The little shops are interesting and reasonable for such a small town. The Co-op food store was very well stocked and prices were right. So, if you really want to experience a peaceful vacation go to Tofino and better yet, stay at Ocean Village Resort. You can't miss it, it's just outside of town (maybe 3 miles) on the west side of the island. Enjoy!!
