OVBR is a true gem. Cozy and inviting, this resort is the perfect place for some R & R. The cabins are roomy and cozy and offer the most amazing views. Perfect spot for families....greenspace for the kids, the beach is steps away from your cabin door, swimming pool, laundry facilities, the list goes on and on. Staff at OVBR were there when you needed them but gave you the space needed to relax and unwind. Have already booked our stay for next year.

I had n't been to the Ocean Village or the west coast since 1993, so our short trip this spring was a real treat. The cottage we were in (43) has been nicely updated. The appliances and beds were really great and obviously quite new. Our bed (in the bedroom) was comfy. The pillows great, and the comforter was way, way better those icky bed spreads found in most hotels. The kitchen was well-stocked (except for pot-holders, though a tea towel will suffice in a pinch), and the dishes were all in good shape. The office kindly loaned us a crab pot & crackers. It was awesome to see locally produced, environmentally sensitve soap/bath products in the cottages: dish soap, hand soap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner. The local art in or cottage was a refreshing and very welcome change from from the cookie-cutter 'stock art' one expects to see in hotels. The bathroom linens all looked new, too. The front desk staff was friendly, and the renovations to the office look great.

The cottage had two minor deficiencies in the bathroom which we brought to the attention of staff at check-out. Blue bins would be a nice addition to the eco-friendly community, but Tofino doesn't have a recycling program available to commercial properties. Apparently the bins created ant problems in the past, which generated complaints, so you can't really fault the resort for removing them. The only major flaw to the cottage itself was an air-flow issue: we had condensation on the windows each morning, every time we cooked, washed dishes or had a shower (pretty much the entire time we were in the unit). Fans are expensive to retro-fit, though, so again, it is understandable that they don't have any.

My husband comment about the cottage: he couldn't find a Bible anywhere, the wi-fi isn't very good (the new owners are aware of this), a light is required over the skin/counter area (the existing lighting casts shadows that block your view of what you're working on), and the location is awesome.

We had a lovely stay, and hope to visit again next year. I will absolutely recommend this property not only to family and friends, but to guests at the hotel I work at on the East coast of Vancouver Island, too.

We've been coming one weekend in Jan/Feb for the past 15 years or so, and have witnessed the changes in personnel that have taken place during the last several years. What a great team you are, and what great changes you have made! We were met cheerfully, and even though we came at different times and had different requests these were all handled efficiently and happily. All the staff members seemed pleased to be there, and were incredibly accommodating. We stayed in the pool late a couple of evenings because the person who locks up said it was fine (we were having such a good time, and it was appreciated). The shower and wetsuit place near the pool was fabulous - other years we would break the rules and change in the swimming pool washrooms because there was no real alternative, but never feel good about it. We appreciated the place you set up for that, and that whoever designed it realized exactly what was needed. We appreciated the reasonable price we were charged (especially the common room), and how easy-going you were about our departure times.

I enjoyed the stay at Ocean Village. The location is fantastic because you are steps away from the beach. We were staying in the lower studio. If you plan on using the kitchen, you might want to bring your own dish washing sponge. The dish washing sponge that was available in our unit was a bit too dirty. The dish rack was also not very clean so we opted to dry our dishes on the towels provided to us.

This resort is very pet friendly. My dog had a lovely time running on the beach and meeting other dogs. The resort also gives you a dog bowl to use, some milk bones and a doggy bag.

The kitchen could use a fan above the stove and the washroom could use a fan as well.

The WiFi is mostly slow during the evening, probably due to high number of users. In the morning or during the day, the speed was acceptable.

The swimming pool and hot tubs were good. The staff was friendly.

I would come back to this resort if I decide to visit Tofino again.

The place was okay. Beautiful view of beach. The pool and hot tub were out of order during our stay. Quiet compared to other places along the beach.
Attractions: http://www.royhenryvickers.com/the_gallery - Really good!
http://www.jamies.com/site/adventure_tours/sea-lion-tours.html - It was okay.
