Owner description: During WWII and The Cold War, Radar Hill was a part of the line of radar installations across the U.S. And Canada, watching for threats of long-range bombers. Radar Hill has a few rare lookout points over Pacific Rim's vast temperate rainforest. A gorgeous place to take in the view, the sweet breeze rolling in from the forest, all while cuddled up gazing over the horizon.

Easy access, good walking trails. Really good interpetive panels to explain the ruins and function of this important security site.

Great view. I really miss the viewing platform that Parks Canada didn't replace. I find it strange that they have a Korean War Memorial there ... with virtually no history of the roll played by this spot in WWII or that there is a bench marker there.

Stopped by here, as I have an interest in WWII sites. What a big let down. The road up to the site was in quite bumpy and in disrepair. At the actual site is void of anything, other then a hole in the ground, and a slab of concrete on top of the hill. There is a small legend at the start of the trail of what the radar setup was like, but that is it. Halfway up, there is a viewing platform with the view mostly obscured by trees now, and a Korean war battle memorial. Once on the top, there are a few more viewing platform facing trees, and that is it. For a Federal park AND WWII 'historic' site, I expected A LOT more.

We didn't see anything that resembled "a view", with the weather socked in tight around us - but that only made it easy to focus on the small, nearby details - the mossy curbs of the wheelchair-friendly path, the way the trees shelter the path as it seems to disappear into the mist, the interesting rock formations crowning the hill where the lookout buildings once stood, and the wide variety of interesting plants and trees with their little sparkles of raindrops. It was deserted during our visit (midday, midweek between Christmas and New Years); also very romantic.
