“Fabulous holiday!”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

This was the best family holiday we had in years! I took my two teenaged sons with me and they were busy all day and asleep, exhausted but happy, by ten every night. The surf instructor was great, he kept them safe and set them up to have fun surfing for the rest of the weekend. He was flexible with times for returning equipment and nothing was too much trouble for him. The restaraunt was amazing, world class food but so friendly you feel like your eating at your neighbors. When one of my sons ordered his whole meal from the appetizer section the waiter didn't blink and treated him with the same courtesy he would Prince William. My son later said the poutine was the best food he had ever eaten!! We stayed in a two bedroom cottage which was roomy and well appointed. The highlight was boating with Steve, we went whale watching one day and fishing the next. Steve knows his business! We saw orcas, gray whales, otters and seals and the boys caught lots of fish, to their delight. He is professional, reliable, safe and fun. The atmosphere at the lodge is warm and friendly and is first class in every way. We can't wait to come back!!

Room Tip: the two bedroom cottages are perfect for families, spacious, comfy, well appointed with your own hot...

The only room they had was under the restaurant. They did warn us there would be some noise. Lovely room with the sound of the waves crashing on the beach - until dinner started and we heard only the noise of the tables being scraped along the floor in the restaurant above. The kindly moved is the next day and all was well. We loved the fire in the room, the armchairs and the fact we could leave the door open at night as there was a fly screen. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom OK, although there was some trouble when 2 other rooms took showers at the same time - no water and lots of noise. It was worth it just to be able to open our door and walk out onto the fabulous beach, where we walked twice a day, despite the mist and wind. The staff were kind and efficient and we had a good rest - after the first night. Good meal in the restaurant too. It was quite a way out from Tofino.

Fantastic location, let down by service. Many examples of when the staff just didn't make you feel welcome, or address issues and no real idea of customer service.

Shame, as lodge lovely, would be so much better with attentive staff.

Great surf school, right on beach. Lovely walks, etc

Room Tip: Choose a room with the beach view.

My husband and I have returned to long beach lodge many times over the past decade. We love it so much we told friends about it and last July they invited us to their wedding at the lodge. It can only be described as one of the most intimate, romantic weddings we've been to. The cottages are perfect with a private hot tub and everything you need available.
There's no place more beautiful or more tranquil on the west coast! See you again soon:-)

Our four nights at Long Beach Lodge were just fantastic! The location was stunning and the sunsets were spectacular! Our only disappointment was that we only booked a room with partial beachfront view. Book a room with full view, it's worth it! The room was great with a huge, comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and polite. My only small criticism would be that they need to SMILE!

My husband and I stayed for two nights at the end of August to attend a friend's wedding. Usually we don't stay in such high-end properties on vacation, but in this case I'm glad we did! I particularly enjoyed the healthy breakfasts served buffet-style in the gorgeous Great Room with a wonderful view of the beach. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and professional. We didn't have a chance to take advantage of the many board games available to borrow, but I was still impressed with this homey offering. Finally, after the wedding ceremony with the beautiful ocean backdrop, our wedding group was treated to a fabulous dinner in the Great Room - the meal was elegantly prepared and mostly BC/locally-sourced.

Absolutely great location and exactly what you imagine when you book a hotel on the beach.

Rooms are OK, nothing really special, but more than adequate - we were facing the back, (not the beach), so your view may be different if you pay a little (lot) more for a seaview.

To be fair, that isn't a issue, as there are plenty of places to sit looking out over sea and why be in your room when you can stroll on the beach!

The only negative we found were that the staff didn't appear happy to be there - bar staff never seemed to smile, it was like you were an annoyance in sitting the bar expecting to get a drink.

I only remember one girl smiling when they came to the table in the whole time we were there!

All in all a good place to stay.
