August is very foggy as per my experience.
Hotel is good, although we felt that should be a presence of the owner to run things more smoothly. It looks like there was not a responsible person, but it is just a sentiment. Other Relais&Chateaux would go off the rules to please a customer. It is not what we felt in this hotel.

Room tip: Bed is too soft.

My significant other and I stayed here for three days. The room we had was wonderful (and the price reflected it). The lodge is charming in every way and the views and beach access is to die for. Furthermore, the staff is helpful and provide outstanding service.

The downside is that the food is overpriced - in particular, the crab cookouts they offer on the beach (at CAN$ 70 per person), which are a total ripoff. Yes, you can eat all you want but the crab is so tasteless and requires so much effort to pry it from the crab legs that you will not want to eat much. The price for this should be about half of what they charge - even in light of this being a luxury resort.

They also have outside BBQ events at CAN$ 25 per person (excluding beverages). This is for burgers, salad and sweet corn. A better deal than the crab cookout if you like burgers enough to eat several of them (I don't).

There is a cheaper cafe in the smaller building that sells sandwiches for about CAN$12 and lunch and dinner entrees for around CAN$20-25. Also breakfast pastries for around CAN$ 4. These prices are reasonable given that you are staying in a luxury resort.

So do go here but be sure to ask about the food prices and maybe pick up some breakfast food and lunch sandwiches in the town of Tofino,

Room tip: ask for a view of the sea.

Dear RBinDC2016,

We appreciate you providing us with feedback on your recent stay at our Inn by way of Trip Advisor Reviews.

We are delighted you enjoyed our Inn, our location on Chesterman Beach and the magnificent scenery surrounding our Inn. We are also pleased you enjoyed dining at The Pointe Restaurant and at our Driftwood Café and that you had the opportunity to join us for our Driftwood Café Beachside Burger Night.

We are truly disappointed that you feel our food and beverage prices are high, particularly at The Pointe Restaurant and for our Crab Cookout on Chesterman Beach. We do monitor similar properties and our Relais & Chateaux peers when setting our pricing structure in a sincere effort to remain competitive. While the cost of the food is a function of not only the outstanding food products, many of which are locally sourced organic products and many others made in-house by our team members, but also incorporate the costs of high-end table ware and of course providing a location that offers a spectacular ocean front view.

Our Crab Cookout is offered during our summer months as an event which provides our guests with the opportunity to experience dining in true Tofino style. The menu is a buffet style which includes locally caught Dungeness Crab, Corn on the Cob, a variety of cheeses and salads, house-made bread and dessert along with non-alcoholic beverages, tea and coffee. After dinner, guests are welcome to relax around a campfire (if permitted) roasting marshmallows and enjoying s’mores. Our pricing is based on the event as a whole and does encompass the beach setup, service by our chefs and service team and of course food costs, including the current market price for crab. We receive very favorable feedback on our Crab Cookout experience and we are truly very sorry that you did not feel you received value for price paid. We would welcome any suggestions you have which would enhance your feeling of value for price paid for this event or for The Pointe Restaurant.

Again, we thank you for your Reviews and sincerely hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to Tofino and the Wickaninnish Inn.

I booked a room online with this hotel with the availability that was given on their website. When I called to confirm they said that I would have to switch rooms every day as each room was booked the next day. This was unacceptable to me to have to pack up and move each day. The only other option was a room that was triple the price. I spoke to the manager and they weren't willing to move on this at all even though the only other option was to pack up and move my bags everyday. For such an expensive hotel I cant believe the lack of service!
Now the fight begins to try and get my money back

Dear Jesse A,

Thank you for providing us with feedback of your recent stay at the Wickaninnish Inn via Trip Advisor. We are truly sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us.

We appreciate your comments regarding the necessity of room moves during your stay with us. We certainly understand that room moves are not ideal and our goal is to avoid them whenever we can. Unfortunately, that is not always possible, particularly during our peak periods, and we do certainly apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. As many of our guests do book well in advance of their stay, it also can be challenging to avoid room moves when guests book close to the dates they wish to stay and have a specific room type request.

Unfortunately, without further information from you we are unable to discuss the specifics of your reservation. Should you wish to provide us with additional details of your stay or would like to speak to a member of our Senior Management Team, please contact us directly at sandy@wickinn.com with your contact details along with your preferred method of contact.

Luxury hotel with excellent staff, all rooms facing the ocean, with fireplace and large bathroom (heated floor). Hotel provides complementary bikes to rent, you can visit the nearby Tofino town which is app 6 km away.
Restaurant with beautiful view and good food but you must book at least week in advance in a peak season to get the dinner in rush hours (6-7 pm).
Breakfast a la carte, otherwise sandwiches and cakes can be purchased in the cafe.

Room tip: rooms in the main building faces the ocean, rooms in the sister building faces the beach and the ocean.

The Wickaninnish is an outstanding property with extraordinary views of the Pacific. The staff is warm and knowledgable, the rooms are cozy with lots of thoughtful touches and the location cannot be beat.

Often, places with killer views don't offer food to live up to the experience. This is not so with the Wick. Dinner in the bar was amazing--some of the freshest mussels and oyster we have ever had. Even in the bar the service is lovely. Highly recommend the BC wines, outstanding and difficult to find outside of Canada. Be sure to book way ahead of time and snag an early seating (to guarantee a window seat) for the Pointe Restaurant. The food is fresh and inventive and the service friendly and professional. Afterwards take a long walk on Chesterman Beach, it is loaded with surfers, walkers, dogs, bikes--all having a blast and the beach is so big it never seems crowded.

The concierge recommended Browning Pass to see the black bears. This was an outstanding and comfortable trip--it is amazing to see bears in the wild from the comfort of a 37 foot boat. Worth getting up early in the morning to see. We also enjoyed several walks they recommended, one at Long Beach and another in the rain forest.

This Wick Inn is pricey, but a perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion.
