I totally enjoyed my stay at the Pacific Sands Resort. Our room was perfect. Very clean and neat with a fire place and complete kitchen. Everything you need to feel comfortable.
The staff were Wonderful. They were very friendly and helpful. They really want you to have a great time. While we were there we had some really bad weather, but we couldn`t have enjoyed it more. We were out in your yellow hotel raincoats, just having fun on the beach. We also enjoyed Breathtaking views from our room. This is a place where no matter what the weather - You`ll enjoy yourself. Just sit back and relax.

Maybe it is just not our cup of tea as we are used to staying at a different location/beach. We stayed in a lighthouse suite and honestly, if we were not on an end unit, we would have asked for a different room. As you walk to and up the steps you can see into the other rooms - not very private.
The beach is reasonably close (not as much as what we are used to) and the view was good.
The rooms were clean and well stocked although the plug in the tub did not hold water and I really enjoy a bath after beach-combing.
Cox beach, which the units sit on, is a great beach for sand dollar hunting, walking and enjoying the surfers.
We really liked the board walk trail!
Honestly, for the price, we would not go back. It might be your thing if you enjoy to stay indoors and have yourself catered do - we are beach combers and wish the surf would almost come through our door!

We booked the Pacific Sands for our honeymoon only about 2 weeks ahead of time. The girl on the phone while booking was very nice, and when she found out it was our honeymoon made a note that we would get free popcorn, movies and bike rentals. When we arrived they had a signed card from the front desk, and a bottle of champagne chilled in the room. They went above and beyond.

The pictures of the Villa's on the website are exactly what you get. The view was unbelievable and only steps from the ocean during high tide. From the moment we walked in we were blown away, and continued to be until the morning we had to leave.

I must say, the villa was huge. Since we only needed one bedroom they locked the door on the second room and took off $90 a night. There was a full kitchen, laundry in the villa, heated tile floors, very comfortable furniture and so much more. The view provided by the huge windows was worth the money alone. The way the units are staggered you don't even see into your neighbors windows, and we never even heard them. At low tide the beach became huge and made for excellent walks with my new wife. Just steps away was a gazebo with BBQ's so you could prepare fresh food there.

I cannot say how much I enjoyed this place, and we are so happy we picked it to make our perfect honeymoon.

The hotel is just a few short steps from Cox Bay which is a long wide beach. Unfortunately, it was foggy for virtually all of our stay so we only saw glimpses of what was a beautiful view. Apparently, the locals call August 'Fogust'!! We understood that it could be foggy for a few hours in the morning, but it was really heavy all day, every day. It felt chilly and damp the whole time we were there.

We arrived late, after a long drive and the receptionist wasn’t exactly friendly. Others during our stay were fine.

Our room was an Ocean View Studio Suite in The Lodge which was ok for two people. It had a very small, old fashioned kitchen. The bathroom was also small with what looked like a 1930’s pre-formed plastic ‘wall’ that morphed into a bath. I’ve never seen anything quite like it before. There was plenty of closet space, but only a few hangers. It was lovely and quiet, which we really appreciated, but there didn't seem to be many people about so maybe it would be noisier at other times. There's plenty of free parking available.

There are some nice touches like raincoats in the closet. There is a big cupboard full of dvd’s in the reception area which you can hire for $2 per night. Access to the internet is free. The hotel also offers a weekly barbeque and there are barbeques dotted around that you can use. I think they also do other things for families, children etc.

They offer a basic breakfast delivered to your door and a selection of food from SoBo (a good local restaurant) which you heat up yourself, but I think it needs its own restaurant or at least a snack bar where you can get a bite to eat. It would also benefit from a small shop stocking the essentials.

On route, there are signs advising you on where to go in the event of a tsunami which was a bit disconcerting. It transpires that the area has some seriously big waves at certain times of the year. No one told us about that!

We loved Tofino – it’s a lovely little town with loads of restaurants. You can go whale watching, take a sea plane trip, walking. Do go to the Botanical Gardens, it’s a lovely walk with some beautiful places to sit on route.

Wickannish Beach and Interpretive Centre is quite an interesting place to visit, and it’s free although you have to pay to stop along the Pacific Rim National Park. It’s on Long Beach which is probably the longest, widest beach I have ever seen. It’s wonderful.

Overall, we had a good stay at the Pacific Sands and the location is great, but I don’t know if we’d stay there again. It was incredibly expensive for what we got.

We had not been to Tofino for a few years but have always had fond memories of our visits as a family. The opportunity for a "quick break" before school goes back presented itself and we were able to find availability at Pacific Sand. The afternoon we arrived the skies broke and that night we saw more stars than I am sure we have ever seen before. We prepared an easy dinner of amazing Wild Salmon curry (purchased at the provisions section in the reception office), watched a movie and then out for the night (the humm of the surf lulled me to sleep pretty quick). the next morning we made our way into Tofino and wondered around the shops and came back with wet suits and skim boards (boogie boards were available at the resort) aside from the challenge of peeling off the suits, skim boarding and boogie boarding is was a great, economical activity that most don't think is available north of California!
An afternoon walk, evening dinner in town and another movie (rented by donation at the reception desk) capped off our day. Wished we could have stayed for another but had to head home after two nights....just reviewed the 100+ pictures we took and am sure we will be looking at many of them often before our next visit. Their mission statement (if I remember correctly) is "to provide extraordinary experiences for everyday people". Through their people, product and location, they did just that!

I suppose the hotel is nice but we never made it that far which was the whole problem. If you have to cancel for whatever reason within the 7 or 14 day cancellation period you lose the entire deposit and that means 100s of $$$. If there is any chance of the kids getting sick, grandma in trouble or problems with the dogs at home I suggest booking a different hotel.

The hotel is right in front of one of the best beaches in Tofino (Cox Bay Beach). if you manage to get a room on the ground floor, it's even better, as you can get out of your room and straight to the beach. There's is a super calm atmosphere. It's the perfect place to relax. Tofino is gorgeous.
