“World Class Accomodation in a World Class Destination”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2012

Just got back from a weekend trip to Tofino where we stayed at the Pacific Sands. We were in a one bedroom suite and our friends were in a 2 bedroom beachhouse. The views from both were stunning. The rooms were tastefully decorated with guest comfort in mind. The kitchens were well outfitted, as were the rest of the suites. Guest rain jackets were even included in each accommodation. Towels were plentiful and bathrooms were sparkling clean and well appointed. Beds were very comfy... the master bedroom in the 2 bedroom beach house was definitely the most spectacular bedroom I have ever seen. Floor to ceiling windows on two sides looking out onto the wild surf of Cox Bay. A huge soaker tub also took best advantage of the stunning view. The second bedroom in the beachhouse was also very nice, and also had its own full bathroom.
In the morning we visited the reception building for excellent drinks from the onsite coffee bar. We took full advantage of this beautiful location and walked the beach from one end to the other and also made sure that we walked the private boardwalk out to Pettinger Point to enjoy the unbelievable view. The staff was very courteous, attentive and efficient.
Can't wait to go back and would highly recommend this world class accommodation in this world class destination!

We found this place on the TA site after we decided to stay in the Tofino area for the night and explore the area more the next day. Tofino and the Pacific Rim Park are not a day trip by any means. After much deliberation about the many high end choices we decided to check out Pacific Sands. When we reviewed the available rooms and pricing we almost left, as the front desk girls while nice, did not fully describe the room which turned out to be an awesome suite! Luckily we decided to look at the room before we left and went elsewhere. It was great, full kitchenette with gas fireplace...very clean and well appointed. The private beach on Cox Bay was beautiful, clean and uncrowded....the sunsets there are fantastic. I'm glad we decided to look at the room...and I hope the girls at the front desk learn to sell this great property to its full advantages....I would stay here again anytime

After reading reviews from other travelers, my husband and I chose Pacific Sands to stay for a three night stay in Tofino. After the first night there I knew I would be writing a Positive review when we returned home.

Our suite was so cozy, clean and so well thought out. We enjoy the option of having a full kitchen for times we would rather not go out for our meals. I 've never been in such a well stocked kitchen...every thing a traveler would need was there.

Our suite was steps away from the gorgeous beach; affording us a spectacular view of the waves, surfers, and the best sunset pictures we have ever taken.

The staff were all very friendly and fun to visit with concerning the area.

We definitely would stay here again.

Room Tip: We experienced a little noise from the upstairs unit but were glad we were on the ground level so th...

3 nights in late September 2012 - great expectations for Tofino! Location was excellent, beach out front was superb, complex was attractive, room was weak. It constantly smelt of bacon (the hood vent in the kitchenette was literally saturated and oozing with bacon fat) and when I went to lay down on the couch there was a low level stench of vomit. The room overall was an excellent size and great features but it was old and tired and all that goes with that. I would not go back to this establishment.

We recently stayed at Pacific Sands for 3 nights and I wish it could have been many more! We arrived on a Thursday afternoon a little over an hour before the check-in time and they let us check in early. It was a beautiful afternoon and we had just finished a long trip - flying from Calgary to Victoria and then driving nearly 5 hours to Tofino - so it was nice not to have to wait around to freshen up and head to the beach.

The staff is very friendly, from the front desk staff to the housekeeping staff. One room attendant even offered to help us carry our bags up the stairs while he was cleaning a room below ours and saw us pulling our bags out of the car. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained, lots of flowers and green space. We stayed in a beachfront suite and it was gorgeous. Very spacious, full kitchen, beautiful vaulted ceiling, new furniture, a nice fireplace to cozy up in front of after freezing your toes off in the waves. Not to mention the spectacular view of Cox Bay. The patio was a great place to drink coffee and watch the surfers every morning, and sometimes we'd just open up the doors to hear the waves. It was nice and clean and the bed was comfortable after long days full days of fresh air.

We seemed to run out of time to rent anything but they have bocce ball, beach toys, boogie boards and bikes for rent. Those are great perks, and most of the things (with the exception of the bikes) are free to rent. There are also raincoats in the closet - thankfully we didn't even need those during our stay! An on site restaurant would definitely be great, though it's such a short drive into town where there are SO many great dining options. I wish we had time to try all of them and to return to the ones we loved so much. It's a very short drive to Chesterman Beach, and only about a 5-7 min drive to "Outside Break" - a neat little eclectic collection of shops and food stands including Tacofino and Wildside Grill. One night we didn't feel much like going out so we grabbed some gumbo to go from Wildside Grill (it was soooo good) and took it back to the resort to enjoy in our room. So, even though there is no restaurant, there are still great alternatives nearby if you don't feel like going far or sitting in a restaurant.

Cox Bay is just a spectacular place to be, and Pacific Sands is pretty much smack dab in the middle of it. We went to Pettinger Point to watch the sunset on our first night upon recommendation of the front desk staff, and it was so stunning that we found ourselves rushing back to the resort every night at sunset so we could watch it from the beach. On our last night there, we actually got engaged right on Cox Bay at sunset. I couldn't have asked for a more spectacular back drop for one of the happiest nights of my life. We got to enjoy a bottle of champagne afterwards, in front of our lovely fireplace. It is definitely a romantic resort!

I can't say enough great things about Pacific Sands, it's an older resort but has been all freshened up, is very well kept, with great staff. We'll be back - I can hardly wait!

It was heaven and you can't say it was was the weather because we had it all...sun, clouds, rain and a full moon!

Picture fine silky sand and a crashing surf steps from your villa doorstep. Better yet...grab your wine and follow those steps onto an almost deserted beach with nary a shred or debris that wasn't left there by there by mother nature! Did I mention all those those fit and crazy surfers in their skin tight dry suits running down the beach and challenging the waves? Well...enough said!

In four days we didn't get to half the trails, tours, and events that were on offer in Tofino. Sarah at the front desk was a font of local knowledge even making suggestions for our friend wearing a boot for her broken foot. We walked the beach at all hours, kayaked out to Meares Island, checked out some great local dining at Tacofino (AWESOME!) Sobe and Shelter in Tofino and cooked crab in our own kitchen when we couldn't get tickets to the beer festival. We settled for our own wine but we would have appreciated a wine steward ...its a bit of a walk to fridge the from the BBQ gazebo when you need a refill while watching the sunset...sigh!

The beach villa had everything...a kitchen made for cooks including the huge crab cooking pot, aveda bath amenities, loads of towels, hair dryers, bright yellow slickers for wet days, warm cozy fire places, a soaker tub for two (or more!) We just added our own candles and it was perfect. Can't remember the last time I slept so blissfully and even the glare of the full moon at midnight just added to the magic once I realized its wasn't a new streetlight I hadn't noted earlier!

Coffee, tea, and cream are replenished daily and housekeeping services are at the guests discretion...as much or as little service as you desire and the young clean team were a delight! I would also have brought less food if I had known about the great selection of locally made goodies in the Beach Bar freezer...perfect for the first night arrival before you find the cute crab guy on the way into town. Don't miss the local produce (amazing chanterelles!) at the Beaches Grocery and the hot chocolate at Chocolate Tofino. We just ran out of time...what can I say!

This was our first visit to the Pacific Sands at Tofino and after this if we did return to Tofino then we would stay here. Plenty of space and comfortable with a great view of the beach. It didn't matter when it rained because we could still watch the surfers who were out in all weathers. The kitchen was great for what we needed, pizza (great from Red Can Gourmet foods) and breakfast. The housekeeping staff were always friendly every day. We did not take advantage of the BBQ but ate out at Shelter (good meal) and the Spotted Bear (also recommended).

Would recommend the Pacific Sands to anyone!
