Tofino is in my opinion the most beautiful place in North America. My wife and I have travelled extensively across North America and overseas. Tofino has always been a bench mark for natural beauty.

We stayed at the Pacific Sands a week after the Earthquake in Japan, and some of the weather was making it's way towards us. We lost power for a couple hours at a time, which added to the overall wonderful feeling of escaping.

We had a room on the ocean, which made viewing the storms come in and out quite an experience.

The room was clean and very spacious, a place your could easily stay a week or two in, as it had a full kitchen, fireplace, sitting area and dining area. We spent our days either wandering the beach, going for a hike on one of the local trails or simply relaxing reading a book in the room.

Overall a wonderful experience, with very good staff and location.

Cannot wait to return.

We love, love, love the Pacific Sands Resort over at Tofino on Vancouver Island! We just returned from a 4 day getaway with friends and are experiencing withdrawl symptoms from not waking up to the sounds of the surf and breathtaking views of Cox Bay from our 2 Bedroom Beach House windows. We were all in long overdue need of some serious relaxation and what better way to decompress than to hop on a BC Ferry and drive across the island through spectaular forests, past picturesque lakes and rivers to arrive at where the big grey sky meets the wild and wooly ocean at what feels like the end of the world on your doorstep.
The cozy, spacious Beach Houses at Pacific Sands are the way to go as you have a fully equipped kitchen, nice dining area and lots of room to spread out and not step on each other while you practise your yoga stretches or shake the water off your gortex jackets. We borrowed games from the office and a couple of movies but really, why bother when the most exciting playground in the world is beckoning you to brave the elements to explore the nature at its most powerful and wonder at the tenacity and hardiness of the locals and visitors surfing the waves regardless of the weather. Just go!

Room Tip: We love the Beach Houses as they have tons of square footage when you travel with another couple or...

We have taken the advice of the other reviewers and had chosen the Pacific Sands for our trip to Tofino with my family in early Feb. As we were very unfamiliar with the huge variety of rooms with different names (shown on their website), we seeked the assistance of the reservation desk over the phone but we did not get much advice and recommendations from the lady who answered our call. We need to tell her exactly which suite versus which suite to compare view and availability which will be time consuming (this means you need to really know the suites and their locatiosn which is impossible for first timers) if we were to compare 1 by 1. in the end, we just closed our eyes and opt for the lighthouse suites. It'll be helpful if the reservation desk just give recommendations based on her knowledge of the property and our requests - We put in our requests for a 2nd floor suite and one that is closest to the water as we told the reservation desk that this is crucial for our decision to confirm a booking with the resort(we will go for other resort opt if this requests cannot be met). Unfortunately, when we checked in, we found out that we were only given a suite on the first floor and view of the ocean blocked by trees. we were then told that no promise on our requests in the first place...But well, it'll be helpful if we know that they run out of the rooms that fits the bill in the first place..that'll help us make an informed decision..if you understand what I mean...

We booked for 2 days and thought housekeeping is daily for normal hotel/ resort standards. But strangely, the housekeeper only knocked on the door on the second day and asked us what we need to replenish, thats all. He didnt come in to make the bed or do any cleaning up. It's not a big deal actually, just thinking if that's the norm?

On another note, I have to comment that the staffs are very friendly and smiley. The housekeeper is very polite and nice too. The room is clean. On and all, it's a nice resort and will be a perfect holiday if not for the little disappointments with room reservation and housekeeping.

Dear Wing2305,

Thank you for spending the time to write a review on our property. I am also a little disappointed to hear of your recent stay with us was less than spectacular. We put families on the ground floor so the children have the ability to run and enjoy our green space while the parents relax in the comforts of our ocean view suites. We do have a lot of different room types to accommodate all, and please know that if you are any bit dissatisfied with any of our suites that we will try our very best to make you happy. We are rated #1 on Trip Advisor and that we are thankful to al of our guests for writing our amazing reviews. I am very proud that you also thought that our staff were the most friendly and polite. Our housekeeping team wants all of our guests to feel like they are at home and with the least disruptions as possible and I am truly sorry that you felt the way they introduced themselves was in fact a miscommunication on our part and we will look further in to that. We hope that we can welcome you back in the future. Kind regards...Lara Kemps Resort Manager

I have travel around and amenities wise, it is probably not the best in the world. But if you are looking for the a place that boasts of serenity, one of the best views of nature, comfortable, clean , lovely and peaceful. (help me out here, I am running out of adjectives, lol) It is certainly by far a romantic place that meets up my standards. Very convenient to get around Tofino. When you get to the resort, it's like you're away from all the hustle and bustle of a noisy city. If you're coming from one and want this kind of getaway, this is the place to be. Caution though, bring your own food to cook as I recall we limited choices for food. They have a kitchen that has the necessary materials for you too cook. (Minus the ingredients, oil, etc).

Last but not the least, go for those whale watching trips. It's not a guarantee but we were fortunate to see two:) A mother and a baby. We were told by our guide:)

Lovely place!!!!

Room Tip: Request for a room facing the sea.

My husband and I stayed here for four days and it was just amazing! We had a one bedroom with kitchen on the first floor, just steps away from the beach! We could constantly hear the huge waves crashing onto the beach, it was amazing! The beach stretches out quite a bit, I went for a run one morning and it was the best run I ever had. The rooms were clean and spacious, we could see the waves from our suite. You can rent movie from the reception and also have fires in the covered fire place area that has been set up. The resort allows dogs, so we brought our dog. There were a couple dogs actually, but not very many.

I would come back anytime!! We had an amazing stay!

Room Tip: Get close to the beach so you can go to sleep to the waves crashing onto the beach!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights in January with a "storm-watching" deal. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) there were no storms to watch, but it was absolutely beautiful regardless. The weather was perfect - minus some snow that was happening. We were able to go on hikes and check out some tidal pools. It was a great weekend getaway from the city. The staff at the Pacific Sands Beach resort were amazing. Having the DVDs to borrow were great for the evenings. We stayed in a studio oceanfront suite in the lodge and it was great! Amazing views of the ocean to wake up to. They also have board games to borrow, but perhaps their selection needs a little updating. But that is the only negative thing that I can say for our whole time there! Overall - amazing. Thanks Pacific Sands!

Room Tip: Call or email the resort directly because some of their rooms are not available on their website or...
