we booked 4 nights this past weekend and stayed one. it said "ocean view" well wesquinted to see a tiny bit between the trees and all the buildings! we were in cabin 10 - pet friendly cabin. the place absolutely stunk. we thought moldy musky. i tried to think it was essential oils but not a chance! had to sleep with the windows open. woke up all stuffed up.
we soon decided to get out! i had already paid night one so we stayed the one night. we were lucky to get into tin wis next door for less money! and it's a great place by the way! we didn't even get a full refund after telling the man about the issues - and were charged the $40 cancellation fee per day. robbery. and i haven't even mentioned the broken dining chair , the stinky toels and the gross rusty lined pool. i usually am not so negative but don't want anyone else to experience a disappointment like i did. and it was my birthday to boot :(

Room Tip: go next door

When you pay $350/night during the low season for a cabin on the beach, it comes with certain expectations, such as newer linen, enough dishes and a basic clean to get rid of cob webs. This resort has a fantastic view and sits right on the beach... but it appears like the owners are taking advantage of the situation and couldn't be bothered. I don't mind the idea of a rustic cabin on the beach, but not at premium resort prices.

We spent three nights in a cabin at MacKenzie Beach Resort and found it to be very comfortable. The cabin had everything we needed and was clean. The bed was extremely comfortable. We were glad to be able to bring our dogs with us, as they are a big part of our family. They had a great time on the beach. It was nice to see a special pricing on there website. A nice quiet, affordable place to stay during the fall months. If you want fancy, go somewhere else. This place was just perfect for us and I wish we could have stayed longer. What a beautiful spot! Hope to go back next year.

Do not stay at this Resort! My family and I stayed here during the summer and were very disappointed. This resort is extremely run down, and looks as though there as been no money put into the resort in years. We stayed in one of the larger cabins, which was fairly clean, but we received terrible customer service when we arrived and also throughout our entire stay. The owners charge extra for EVERYTHING – firewood for the cabins, internet, if you don’t do your dishes when you leave, etc. And it seemed like we were greatly bothering them every time we asked for anything, even small.

CABIN: We stayed in a cabin with a beach view. The view was amazing, the cabin was nice enough, though it needs some serious and obvious repairs. The appliances were quite old, the sheets looked old, and the blankets looked like they had never been washed. And though it had a fireplace, we had to deal with an angry owner every time we wanted our ‘free bundle of wood’ that came with the cabin.

PETS: We brought our (very well behaved) dog to the resort as it was stated that our cabin was ‘Pet Friendly’ but received a lecture from the owner about dogs on the resort and keeping our dog in a crate at all times in the cabin as ‘it is not to be roaming free around the cabin’. We don’t even have a crate for our dog! So it is NOT pet friendly as advertised on the website.

POOL: The pool building is disgusting, the water is murky, there is obvious dirt build-up around the rim of the pool, and the hot tub was very small and dirty as well. Above the pool there is actually a fan hanging loose from the roof by just a wire. We didn’t use the pool after seeing its condition, which was a disappointment for our young children.

CAMPING: This resort offers camping as well, and they pack them in alright! There are campers and tents and trailers everywhere on the resort, on tiny little ‘campsites’, you have to walk through a maze of tents and people just to access the beach.

Tofino itself is a great little village with amazing beaches and lots to do, just be sure to do some research on accommodations before you arrive. We looked around at other resorts while we were there for next time and found ocean village and crystal cove, which are similar lodge/cabin resorts with pools on the same beach, and are MUCH nicer, newer and seem friendlier, for approximately the same prices.

TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE! The owners obviously do not put any of the ridiculous fees
they charge back into the resort itself.

I stayed in Cabin #1 (largest) with a group of friends - we booked three nights well in advance. Several months before our booking, we called to have the stay reduced from three nights to two, and were told that this would not be an issue. Of course, when we arrived, it was an issue. We had people travelling a long way, so we had no choice but to stay there, and they wouldn't let us unless we paid three nights in full, up front. They even charged us "extra occupant" fees for the night the cabin was empty.
The cabin itself was ok. It wasn't impeccably clean when we got there, but we weren't grossed out either. As a group, I think we have a higher threshold for uncleanliness, but I don't remember it being a disaster. The beds are nothing special - old mattresses, with sheets that should be replaced. It is a cabin and it felt like a cabin.
It was an unfortunately cold weekend, and we were happy to have a fireplace in our room. Our room fee was supposed to include free firewood for the fireplace, but everytime we went to get some, we were given a "You just got some, you don't need more". We ended up running the oven to keep warm.
Other reviews mention that the hot tub was filthy or slimy. It was not bad for us - it was clean an worked - but management was quick to remind us that if there was any sand in it when we left, we would be charged extra.

All in all, this place could have gotten an excellent review, if only the management took a little time, and showed that they actually gave a $#*! about the people paying paying significant sums of money to stay there.

You get what you pay for. Tofino is very expensive and thinking we were getting a good deal was a mistake. Luckily we were only staying one night. It is very basic...good bed, TV, bar fridge,no kitchen facilities, shower VERY small. The kicker for us was a sign that read "You will be charged $20 for dishes not cleaned". I would never have drank out of the glass if I had known it wasn't cleaned by trained cleaning staff. The beach is right outside and we did spend alot of time there.

We had trouble within 20 minutes of arriving at our cabin. Campers had their tent in front of what is to be our 'Ocean view' and screaming profanity at us for no reason at all.
Service was terrible, never once did we have our cabin checked on to see if we might need clean towels, the garbage was full, no extra bags, one package of coffee and we were there for 4 nights. no extras in the cabin, bare minimum for utensils, dirty dishes in the cupboard. When you pay $500+ a night, you would think that there might be a little better service. Will NOT stay there again. Love Tofino will definately go back, will just be staying somewhere else.

Room Tip: Cabin is right next to the campsite....would not reccommend staying there.
