“rustic and pricey”
Reviewed August 26, 2006

We were in cabin 1 for three nights. Our friends were next door in cabin 6. The cabins were right on the beach, so the view was fantastic. You expect rustic when you book into a log cabin. Rustic is fine, but this cabin was a bit run down and needed some repairs. Who would put laminate "fake wood" flooring in a bathroom? The "wood" was separating due to water damage. The lighting in the bathroom was very dim. The bedrooms are very small and there is very little drawer space. What they consider a bedside table is a slat of fake wood arborite coming out of the log cabin wall. It looks awful. We spent over 400.00 a night and were expecting nicer accommodations. A bit of a disappointment, but we may be back because of the views.

incredibly noisy (staffer did quiet loud music after 11p, but loud conversations were not silenced). campsites within scant feet of each other, so zero sonic privacy, though view of neighbors is obscured.

there's unlimited free firewood, so every single site makes a fire, even when it's warm out -- making the air is so smoky it's impossible to breath. not a good value for the money. no views except for the nice trees.

no water even audible, much less visible.

ugh -- never again at this place.

We just got back from the Crystal Cove Resort and were very unimpressed with the amenities and service. We rented a 2 bedroom and den cabin with a hot tub but we never got to use our hot tub because it was cold all weekend! Maintenance was sent but they were unable to fix the problem. We kept being assured the hot tub was fixed and that we would be able to use it but it never ended up getting warm.

The cabin was clean but very rustic. I have never stayed in a place that did not have a phone (or cable TV for rainy days). The cabin slept 8 but the dining table only sat 5 which made meals difficult. The living room was tiny with only a small couch so again, not everyone could lounge in one space. Ultimately we were extremely disappointed about our experience at the Crystal Cove and we would not ever go back.

Just a tip:
We were also not told that they lock the gate across the driveway from 11 pm to 8 am so if you are arriving late or departing early for the ferries, you will run into problems.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Crystal Cove and each time we love it more. We have tried various cabins and have found our favorite in cabin #12.
The resort is just beautiful and now that the construction has come to a finish the peace and quiet is back. It is just beautiful with new landscaping and beautiful cabins. We kept commenting on how many ammenities were available inside and outside our cabin. Not to mention waterfront views and a hot tub in cabin #12. No doubt at all we will be back!

This is our second time to CCBR. And we still love it. This time we stayed in Cabin 12, by far the best cabin. Privacy, walk on to the beach, private hottub. Very Nice. We went with another couple and our 2 dogs. They had fun too!! If you go there go exploring in the trails off to the left of the beach, very beautiful views and fun. Last time we were here we went to the hot springs so this time we went into town and looked around. Cabin 12 has 2 bdrms, 2 bath, living room, kithchen, tv, vcr, large selection of videos to borrow from the front desk, loft up top and don't forget the hottub. The staff as previously said are very nice and helpful if you want to look into tours etc... We will be going back!

We have been to Crystal Cove Resort three or four times. We first landed there because they are pet friendly. We love to have our dog with us!!! It is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. We stayed in Cabin #7 two or three times, and then last trip we stayed in one of the cabins that has stairs leading right on to the sand. I have always been very impressed by how hard the staff there work to make your stay enjoyable.
They are young, but they are very professional. Nice to see. They really do strive to anticipate your every need, and make your stay comfortable and relaxing. Everything is very well kept, with great beds and bedding and towels, nice appliances. This really is super-deluxe.
Wish we were there right now!!! P.S. I have never seen the place overrun by dogs, and have never heard a peep out of the other cabins.
