My Husband, our children, and I visited Crystal Cove Resort in the middle of May 2011. We were completely impressed by EVERYTHING! We stayed at the beginning of the week in Cabin 12(one of the most sought after cabins due to privacy, layout, and beachfront with a picnic table on your own grass area. Everything was provided in the kitchen department of things, including the aluminum foil. Everything was up-to-date including the beds, t.v ( free rentals of DVDs, and Novels are available at the Office), and bathrooms. A beautiful ambiance. The main bedroom was attached to a en-suite bathroom with a luxury glass shower, personal robes, and an entrance to the private hot tub that consisted of a turn-key(located inside the en-suite bathroom) to raise, and lower the hot tub cover( we were told all cabins will be changing over to this type of covers). The main bathroom had a tub with a shower, and both bathrooms had ample amount of towels. The resort has a towel service that will replace your towels as needed. However, one should also try to conserve laundry. Our two youngest children shared a bed/room, and our 7 year old had the loft upstairs. The only thing I would say to this loft layout was I was fearful of the spring closing stair that raise up, and down. Having younger children, this was a fear of hurting themselves, and had to be raised up for safety reasons for the majority. The firewood box is located outside, and filled up everyday if need. You are also provided fire logs (that are also replenished as needed) for those who would like an easier fire starter. As in the rules, you MUST chop firewood outside (I would never disagree with this rule, as the floors are immaculate real wood finish, and should be looked after). There is a kerosene old style lamp that sits upon the fireplace mantel available for uses, along with complementary matches. A BBQ is provided for those yummy meals that one would desire, along with a propane bottle that is always full. My favorite thing is that they change your garbage outside everyday, along with a compost system :) where you place it outside to be picked up. We stayed in cabin 12 for 3 nights, and really did not want to leave. We decided to stay another night. However, as I mentioned cabin 12 is a gem, and many guests request it. PLEASE BOOK FAR IN ADVANCE! as we did in October of the previous year. Since it was so close to the May long weekend, our reservation had come to a close, so cabin 12 was already booked for other guests. The front desk was VERY helpful in providing a choice in other cabins that we could view to extend our wonderful stay. We chose cabin 21 which was amazing also! It was not beach front, and had no picnic table, but it had plenty of room, much more than cabin 12. I found this cabin to be very nice, with french doors on the upper floor to the deck with the hot tub, and a nice pair of wooden deck chairs, and table. The only thing I was concerned about was the level of the deck railing, with the hot tub for the children was dangerous. This can be solved with a personally made divider on the two sides corresponding to the deck railing. The stars were AMAZING! Everyone had their own rooms(except our young ones shared). Even though we loved cabin 12, this next year we have decide to probably stay at one of the cabins 21, 22, 23, or 24 because they layout for our family is better. For a pet friendly resort, it does not show any dirtiness of hair or poop ANYWHERE! :) Everything was cleaned spotless. The architecture of the resort is made of beautiful dark stained wood, even the awesome playground. The grounds are immaculate, and extremely wonderful upkeep. Very professional!

Room Tip: You will want a nice hot tub!

Our family really enjoyed our time at Crystal Cove. Very nice, the beach is right there, so worth the trip out to Tofino. Price was reasonable, but it always costs a bit more in Tofino. Great kids play area, very well managed park. Would definitely recommend to others.

We stayed at Crystal Cove during the busy season, and were extremely disappointed with their RV park. A very snooty and unfriendly young lady at reception nearly induced me to turn around and walk out, but her male colleague was a little more interested and friendly. We had one of the most expensive overnight stays of our entire tour of BC, and probably the smallest plot which was cheek-by-jowl with our neighbours on both sides. The showers were very basic, and not very clean, which is the least you expect at that price. The washing machines were ancient and not particularly effective. The free firewood was damp and unusable. We won't stay there again.

This is our 3rd or 4th time to Crystal Cove, and we love it. We always stay in the log cabins, which are really super clean, and fully stocked with everything you would need. Large kitchen to prepare meals and bbq on the deck. Short stroll to the beach which is perfect for kids with a wide beach, great for flying kites and letting the kids run around. At night we made bonfires on the beach and roasted marshmellows. Perfect! The grounds are immaculately kept...
We love the treehouse cabins, as there is a shared hottub between 3 units but we usually always have this to ourselves. Except this time. During our entire 4 day stay, there was a family of too many kids and babies, that were constantly in the hottub with their toys and swim diapers. This time it was not too inviting.......(not the fault of the resort)

I would say that the only negative of this resort is that it is shared with an RV park. For the money that you pay, you are just a few feet away from RVs and tents. Not exactly the same ambiance. (romantice log cabin right next to campers). They are noisy, and contstantly have fires burning night and day, and the RV's leave really early in the mornings... I really wish that they(the resort) would change this..

All in all, I would still go back.

Room Tip: I love the treehouse cabins because of the hottub, but hate that they are right beside RV's and tents.

Four Moms and their six sons headed to Tofino this summer so the boys could try surfing. We picked Crystal Cove 'cause one Mom was bringing her RV. The two-storey place I stayed in with another Mom and her two boys was perfect for us. Lots of room on the main floor for meals, games of Pictionary and board games as well as the sprawling around that boys like to do. The beds were very comfortable, everything was super clean and in good working order, and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Loved that they had free coffee, ice, and DVDs available. The grounds are beautifully kept - immaculately in fact. We all decided it was a great 'find' and that we would return if travelling to Tofino.

Room Tip: The units close to the water looked quite cozy and inviting.
