Today we did the very first kayak tour of 2013. It was a very interesting experience. We saw many sea animals (bold eagle from 5 meters!!! ; sea otter ; sea lion ; starfish).
'Captain' Werner is an enthusiastic guid that knows everything about environment, the animals and the local culture. We can recommend it: It is save, fun, and you stay dry (if it's not raining of course). It's definitely worth its money.

Greets from Belgium.

I was amazed by the nature of the Clayoquot Sound territory. Especially experiencing this region by kayaks are a special treat. We went on a 5 days individual trip with Black Bear Kayaking. The equipment is top notch and both trip guides, TJ and Alysha are awesome. They are very knowledgeable about the surroundings, nature and history wise. The trip we planed, turned soon into a little adventure. With cosy camp fires, wild animal sightings during kayaking, whale sightings, salmon fishing and so on. Even a rainy day could not spoil this experience.

Guys thanks for this great trip!

Greetz chris

I recently went on a multi-day trip from Tofino to the hot springs with Black Bear Kayaking and had a wonderful time. The kayaks themselves were top notch and in great shape...excellent equipment. We were continually amazed at how much camping gear we could fit into these things. Our guides, TJ and Alysha, were very knowledgable about the history of the area and the wildlife and were generally fun people to be around (even when it rained). We went in October so rain was pretty much inevitable but still the guides kept our spirits up and we had a great time throughout. Being a novice kayaker, I was a little concerned about sea kayaking but our guides gave us great pointers and put our minds at ease. Clayoquot sound is a really beautiful area to kayak through and reaching the hot springs was a great and well deserved end to our trip. I would highly recommend Black Bear Kayaking to anyone visting Tofino, you will not be disappointed!

I went on a trip to Vargas Island in September with guides Torsten and his dog Sawyer and it was amazing. Best kayak trip, lots of information about Tofino and great memories and pictures. You must go on your next visit!

Based on the good reviews on tripadvisor, we decided to book a sea kayaking tour with Black Bear Kayaking. It would turn out to be one of the best experiences of our holiday!

We booked the 2,5 hour evening kayaking tour. Alysha was our guide and she was simply amazing. My parents joined on the trip and especially my Mum was a bit concerned about safety and whether she would fall over into the water. Alysha made them feel comforable from the start and explained safety and how to peddle very clearly. She was both funny as well as extremely knowledgeable about kayaking and about the area where we went.

I have done sea kayaking before and let me say that the gear of Black Bear was good quality.

The 2,5 hour we booked would turn out to be a 3h15min tour which was lovely. It was great peddling through the water at night time just before the sun goes down. We saw quite a lot of cool wildlife including eagles, seals, starfish and herring. Alysha was great in explaining details about the island, the nature, the history and even the animals. It was a great way to explore the area (totally different from hiking or cycling).

We really loved our tour and Alysha was the best. If there is one activity you want to do in Tofino, this might be it and definitely go with Black Bear Kayaking. These guys are the best!
