“This B&B takes the guess work out of your holiday”
Reviewed July 15, 2009

This B&B is nessled in the forrest, across the street, from theChesterman's beachfront properties. Your personal cabin is quiet ,a perfect bird watching facility. Breakfast is served to your door, fresh each morning .Warm homemade muffins, coffee, and fruit of the season.,Healthy walks on the beach only to be topped off with a Finnish Sauna right on your premises. You are totally relaxed after a day here.

The location was perfect. 100 steps from the ocean. Chesterman beach to be exact.Rented bikes within walking distance and spent most of our days outside.Town of Tofino is a 15 or 20 minute bike ride. Loved the area.Great sunsets. I asked before we got there if we could borrow beach chairs and she did provide them. She wouldn't let us take a towel down there so we had to go into town and buy beach towels. A bit of a pain but that's fine.
In the morning the owner brings a tray of fresh baked muffins and fresh bowls of fruit, knocks on the door then runs away. I hate muffins and these were amazing.Seriously.

Yes there is a sauna. We tried it once. It is a wood stove sauna. Alot of work for a 15 minute sweat. But a neat experience. She prefers to start it up so we felt uncomfortable bothering her for another night. That was okay.

The cabin is set literally in the owners back yard. Kinda weird at first. Although it is very, very quiet and surrounded for the most part by bush.
There is a "loft" that they also rent out in the top floor of the house which looks right down into your cabin. Not much privacy for the little deck and you have to keep the blinds closed.

They have been renting this cabin out for 16 years or so. You can tell too.If your looking to walk into a clean room, don't take off your shoes. Dirty finger prints on the miniture fridge handle is just the beginning. The place is given a "spit and polish" for each new guest.Toilet and sink are clean and there are clean sheets on the bed. Although there were beginnings of holes starting to show through. Bring shower flip flops, the floor is filthy and there is no bathroom matt so you have to use one of the towels provided.
There aren't any screens on the windows so at night an extreme amount of condensation drips from inside the windows leaving signs of serious mildew and mold. You can sleep with the windows open to cut back on the moisture but beware of moisquito's. The worst for me personally was the bed. It's old. Very old and every time you breath in or out it squeaks. Drove me nuts.Don't look up either unless you can't get to sleep, you might want to count the dust bunnies hanging from the homemade stick chandeliers.

Overall, it's not hotel clean but the location made up for it.
The owner is nice but not very elaborate when it comes to offering suggestions or answering questions, she'd rather pretend you're not there and just collect the money when your gone.I don't mind that. My guess is, this was a great homemade cabin and dream when it opened but through the years as the cabin has worn down so has the inspiration, passion and dream of the owner who runs it but finds it hard to part with the extra cash from outsiders that have invaded this little secret of a town out west.
