Owner description: Long Beach, the longest beach of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, spans an extraordinary 16km (10mi) along the west coast of Vancouver Island. Described by locals to be magical, you will be astonished by the amount of life that call the tidal pools home. You will be sure to find crabs, shells, starfish, sea urchins and much more. As the surf comes crashing in, you will find surfers from around the world carving through the peaks of the waves. As the water settles, it gracefully rides up the beach with peaceful trickles and shimmering light from the breathtaking sunset crossing the colourful horizon. Long Beach is truly a rejunivating getaway for all ages. Whether you're looking to kickback, explore, adventure, hike, surf, or just take one of those long walks on the beach, Long Beach has it all.

Gorgeous beach....... Fantastic place to see the sunrise/set. Clean beach which seems endless. Visited when sunny and again when windy and wet and would visit again.

“THe wild west coast.”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

This is miles of endless beach. The sand so silky soft, it is nicer that the sand on the tropical Islands in the carribean. One differance is that the Carribean sand is made up of crushed coral. THe Sand on the west coast is ground up rocks. This is not a beach that you come to Swim in. One is the water is too cold. Even in the summer. the other reason is the strong currents. Recently, surfing has become very popular. This area named one of the top locations in North America to surf. There are numerous surf schools located in both Towns of Tofino and Ucluelet for those that want to learn. Popular year round now. In the Winter, many come to watch winter storms. Between November and April. Keep in mind that this is a temperate rain forest. So there is always rain. Yes not so much in later part of July and August and September. Out here the month of August is known as Foggest. Reason is as the temperature inland warms up. it meets with the cold pacific air and produces fog. So you can be at Kennedy lake and it can be 25 degrees celcius and a few kilometers away at the coast and beach, 15 to 17 degrees and in the fog. Some days the fog will burn off about noon and come back around 5 or 6PM. Some days the fog will not go away. The fog can have an eary look as it glides across the sand. Almost like what you see on one of the 1950 sci fi movies. THere is a ruggedness and beauty that is beyond discription. Sunsets when they are available, are the type that couples like to watch together. Exploring the beach, you can veiw tidal pools with some of the smaller sea creatures. Always present are eagles overhead. As always, Long Beach is a national park. So you are not allowed to remove anything.

Huge expanse of sandy beach to walk along. Watch the surfers while you enjoy the terrific ocean view. Can be very windy and cool, even if the sun is shining!

There was surfers out in Nov, beautiful waves crashing onto the beach and you can walk for miles. Very nice drift wood washed up along shore and lots of free parking and the public restrooms are kept tidy even for November.
