This was our second holiday at Cedar Beach and it was as great as it was the first time. We have three young kids and they loved the beach, the lake, the pool...which made it ideal for the parents. We could sit back, relax, enjoy the beautiful surroundings and know our kids could run around in a safe, fun place. The cottages are basic, which is perfect when you've got kids running in and out all day. Some cottages are more updated than others because each one is individually owned. But even if you have one of the less updated cottages, all the basics are there along with a few extras. Michelle and Steve who manage the property are fantastic and really care about making the resort enjoyable for everyone. Yes, that means there are rules about no noise after 11 pm and kids not being in the pool without a responsible adult, but from our perspective that just made the experience so much better. If you're looking to party all night this may not be the place for you. But if you have a family, want to meet some great people and have a fun, relaxing holiday, we absolutely recommend Cedar Beach. We love it.

It was our first time here at Cedar beach. The lakeview was outstanding and the fishing was great. I would recomend this resort for families or couples that like to swim and fish.

My boyfriend and I booked a weekend here after seeing the resort on the web and thought it was the best price on the island for a private cabin. We didnt have much of an idea what we were getting but after speaking to the owners on the phone they gave us a good idea of what we were getting. As well they were very friendly.
We arrived early evening on a friday and were checked in fast and given our key. We found our cabin (#2) and were happy. It was small but it was nice that they gave us the more "secluded" one.We had a nice view through the trees of the lake. The cabin is small and rustic. I think it was perfect for one couple but it might be a little too small for more than that. The kitchen was fully stocked and ice trays full in the freezer. bed was very comfortable and we had a nice long nap when we got settled.
the location is great, 10 min drive from Ganges.
The only downside I found was that having the cabins close to one another you could hear others in the cabin above us from time to time. The owners were very nice to us and we didnt even see them while we were there.

I come twice a year , once with a gruop of football coach`s and again with my family of 5 . I can not say enough good things about our stays at the resort . The staff has always gone out of their way to make sure our stay is enjoyable .On our last trip the staff made special trips to town for ice and would deliver it to our cabins . As far as the rules go every resort has rules , could you imagine 6 - 8 football coach`s without rules . The rules are there to make sure that all the people staying in the resort enjoy themselves . My kids look so forward to staying at Cedar Beach every year , the fishing is 1st class the pool is perfect and with other families around the kids always make lots of friends and memories . I would and do recommend Cedar Beach Resort to everyone i talk to .

Don't waste your time or money on this campground. My husband and I just returned from what felt like a weekend in prison.

First of all, the place has only one road that goes through the campground (there are no loops for campsites) so it's a major thoroughfare for all foot, bike, pet, car, truck, golf cart traffic. It felt like camping on a highway..they do not publish the pictures of the campsites on the website. All of the campsites are crammed together at the top of the hill with no view of the lake. The cabins and the pool are at the bottom of the hill near the lake. If you pay for a cabin, you'll have a great view but that's about it. Our friends rented this horrific teeny cabin for $140 / night and it was no bigger than my bedroom at home with this rundown furniture and teeny kitchenette with a hotplate and microwave. Certainly not worth the rental even with a view. The public bathrooms were a joke -- two tiny showers, sinks and toilets for a campground that accommodate 200 people and they were filthy. I saw the same used Q-Tip on the bench in the shower 3 days in a row!

And now for the ridiculous rules...that they do not publish on their webiste..dogs are not allowed down the hill near the cabins, in the cabins, on the lake in the canoes you can use, near the pool area or on the beach. They are only allowed up at the top in the campsites or in this little field. You can only have campfires from 7PM to 11PM. At 11PM, they walk around and have you douse your fire with water even if it's just two people sitting by the fire being quite. You have to be silent by midnight in your camper, tent or trailer or they tell you to go to bed. They close the hot tub at 7PM (when the millions of kids finally get out and adults can use it!). And for two people working there, they seem to be everywhere strictly enforcing these rules. It just seems to me that there are militant rules for the sake of having rules. They make no sense and we are adults in our forties with an 8 lb dog who are not rowdy or loud.

I've been to many a private campground all over North America and this is one of the worst! Save yourself and don't go.

We were there for 3 nights (Aug 5-Aug 8th 2008) in 2 cabins. The cabins were not what we expected for the rate they charged. There are self imposed, absurb rules that they did not list on their web site. Canoes or row boats are signed out for 2 Hrs only and they arrogantly enforce their rule. Just to get used to a row boat took us 1 hr. We took the boat out at 7pm and returned at 8:30pm and the next day we were refused when asked for a boat because we did not return them at exactly 8pm.
Above all, the trip did not worth the effort, there are much better places in vancouver island. Buyers beware!
