“Rest and Relaxation in a truly picturesque location”
Reviewed April 22, 2012

We spent an absolutely lovely weekend at the Hastings House in late April and it was the perfect get away. The location of the property was very convenient, close to the ferry terminal and also a short walk from Ganges, however nestled in the perfect spot to feel somewhat secluded. The gardens on the property were lovely and there were fresh flowers used throughout the whole place to remind you of the surrounding beauty.

The service was AMAZING and all the staff took great pride in living in the area and being part of such a special place. The food was excellent and I especially enjoyed all the extra little "special touches" that were part of the visit. Including an early morning delivery of fresh muffins to the room and delicious coffee and also a afternoon tea time in the lounge with mouth watering pastries.

I also took time to visit the spa for a massage and it was very relaxing. The spa staff were very hospitable and really took the time to ensure all my needs were met.

Overall the Hastings House is a rare gem of a location, so quaint and relaxing and a true luxury resort.

Hosted a high-level international conference at Hastings House in early March and were very impressed.

The beautiful and discreet setting provided an valuable escape from worldly distractions and led to a very productive few days. The dining room was just barely able to accomodate all 22 - but for a group of that size or smaller, it's quite ideal. During the off-season the entire property can be booked at a very competitive rate. Would not recommend earlier in the year than March as the glassed in verandah conference room was just warm enough.

Staff provided world-class service for discerning guests, and went above and beyond in responding to last-minute requests. They were especially helpful shuttling delegates between the property and the seaplanes. The food was very good, but the wine pairings were excellent. Would certainly use this venue again whenever circumstances permit.

Thank you for your excellent review. Hastings House Country House Hotel began seeking out the opportunity to host corporate retreats starting in 2011. We have been sharing the Hastings House experience with a wide spectrum of corporate clients, ranging in group sizes from 20 to 70. We have learned we can provide the best possible experience by being able to respond to needs and requests of our clients on a moment’s notice. Corporate clients are another opportunity to showcase the capabilities of Hastings House’s full service staff and we enjoy that challenge immensely, especially when we receive excellent comments such as yours. Thank you for bringing your delegates to stay with us and we look forward to working with you and the Salt Spring Forum again.

My wife and I booked a weekend for two and could not find a babysitter, so we brought our kids along to Hastings House. Kelly, General Manager, ensured every detail was taken care of including picking us up from the ferry terminal to reserving private areas of the dining room for our family of four. The main inn two bedroom suite was luxurious and provided an ambundant space for our kids to have their separate space and for my wife and I to have a romantic fireplace bedroom complete with a view of the ganges harbour and snow covered Mt. Maxwell in the backdrop. Dining service from high tea, to a three course plus dinner, to a multi-course breakfast exceeded expectations. We waited until our 10th anniversary to enjoy this Relais Chateau property and it certainly is a five star property with all amenities located in one of the most picturesque settings anywhere in the Pacific Northwest. We have been looking back through our pictures and can not wait to return.

Room Tip: Ask Kelly, General Manager and he will take care of any requests you have!

Kelly and his team went out of their way to make my stay special and unforgettable. They put in all the stops for me to make sure I was comfortable and spoiled rotten! :) Definitely my preferred place to stay in when I return again and again and again..

Celebrated a family milestone in a true Relais et Chateau property.....so close to Victoria, BC - short ferry ride to this landmark hotel. Greeted by Terra and other hotel staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and pampered. A breakfast with hand-pressed juices made on the property and what has to be the best orange marmalade we have ever tasted - anywhere. Whether relaxing with a fire in our room or enjoying afternoon tea with other guests - we simply did not want to leave.

This place is special. Kelly and his staff are great, but the setting makes it unique. My wife and I spent three nights on a business/pleasure combo trip to Salt Spring Island. It was going to be a two-nighter, but we couldn't resist tacking on a third. We had one dinner at Hastings House and it was excellent. (Not the least expensive place to stay, but we sure enjoyed it.)

Stayed here in august with husband and one child. The grounds are beautiful and the location is very pretty. Rooms are okay, service was fine. I feel after reading all the reviews that this is a little over rated. We have wanted to stay here for a few years and now I am glad we have. Once was enough, we will try somewhere else next time.
