“Right in the mountains”
Reviewed May 1, 2012

Our World Harmony Run team stayed in this hotel thanks to the generosity of the hotel management. Clean, warm rooms and farewell refreshments was exactly what we needed on our journey and once again we are grateful for that.
Also, the decorations in the room made us feel the mountains even more powerfully.

A buddy and I stayed at this place before skiing at Red Mountain. It's very basic. Rooms were basic but very clean. We stayed in a room with two beds which wasn't quite big enough to handle two beds. There was wireless internet, and breakfast which consisted of two cereal choices, toast, and juice or coffee. Hotel is right off the main highway and easy to find. Rossland is a couple minute drive away. If you are looking for anything more than a place to crash for an evening, you might look elsewhere.

Scary hotel manager. Scary scent to the rooms. Me and a buddy went to bed scared that the door to the room was going to be pushed open (as the doors failed to close/lock more than once) by a knife wielding assailant. You get the Hills Have Eyes feeling from this place. I definitely recommend the Prestige in town - though a little more expensive it will be well worth it!

Basic motel. Dated, but clean as a whistle. Stove, fridge, and all kitchen utensils to cook meals. Included breakfast is basic DIY. Overall OK.

The rooms as this hotel are clean and quite small. There are several kitchen units scattered throughout the hotel. I recommend the 2nd floor as you hear every movement from above if you stay on the 1st floor.

The breakfast is your standard store bought muffins and cereal.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are quieter, you will avoid disturbance from people clomping up and down the access sta...

I paid $80 for a single night at Casa Alpina and it was pretty straightforward. The room was decently updated with cable TV and a mini-fridge, and it seemed fairly clean. The staff was friendly and helpful, although I did find the 'no skis, no snowboards, no bicycles' in rooms policy a little irritating. They provide a locked room for gear and thats fine for a $600 pair of skis but a $6000 mtn bike really ought to be secured better, even in a safe place like Rossland. They don't mention this on their website and I may have reconsidered booking a room here if I had known. However, this is the same price at the Rossland Motel and the rooms are better. They also provide a breakfast but I didn't try it.

We were looking for a cheaper hotel with microwave and fridge to keep the food bills down on our snowboard trip so we picked the Casa. I believe it is family owned and the lady who checked us in was very friendly. She even asked us what time we would like our continental breakfast to be ready. The rooms were very clean (no bed bugs we checked), a little older but had everything we needed. The outdoor hot tub was also quite clean and a welcome addition after a hard day in the powder. Good breakfast selection before hitting the slopes and you can even get discount lift tickets at the front desk. Just be prepared for the VERY firm beds as the only downside.
