Hotel is clean, affordable and accommodating.
Our room was large and we had a very quiet night.
We were not charged extra for our pet!! Imagine our delight!
Would recommend this place if staying Prince Rupert

Dirty office area. The hall carpet was a carpet of many colors since chunks of carpet had been replaced with old mismatched carpet. Our room carpet had huge ripples because it was in need of stretching....heck don't stretch it just replace it! The place had the spooky feel about it... the men's underwear laying by the entrance nearest our room may have added to the uncomfortable feeling. The bottom line is I did not feel safe staying here. Nothing about this place felt clean! They did update the bathroom but the room had a long way to go before I would stay here.

I made a reservation at the Totem for when we got off the ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert. When I got to the hotel with 2 very tired children, I was informed that they had given away our room as apparently there had been a computer glitch & my reservation didn't show, even though I had a confirmation number. There were other people getting there rooms though - so apparently not everyone lost their reservations! The front desk personnel did not really seem to know what was going on & was mildly apologetic. She did phone another hotel, which was nice, but having worked in the hotel industry I know that this is common practice. I ended up staying at the Pacific Inn, which was really nice & the front desk personnel there was great!

Room Tip: Find another hotel to make sure you actually get a room!!!!!!

Our sincere apologies that you had such a bad experience with us. We did have a system crash early in the summer that resulted in the loss of some reservations, and unfortunately on the the night of your reservation we were mistakenly overbooked due to this crash. We're very glad you enjoyed your stay at the Pacific Inn, and we apologize again for the inconvenience.

We stayed at the Totem overnight in mid Sept 2012 on a trip to Haida Gwaii. The room was quite large and very well appointed although, like others have mentioned, somewhat dated. The bed seemed kinda bouncy at first but we had a lovely sleep on it. We got in late off the Port Hardy ferry i.e. 11 PM and the Totem made sure there was somebody there to check us in. The ferry to Haida Gwaii wasn't until 10 PM the following night but the Totem offered us a late check-out that helped quite a bit.
The motel has a coin operated laundry on site (you buy soap, etc at the front desk).

All in all: a nice clean motel, friendly people, big room, WiFi that worked, a full kitchen, laundry facilities, GREAT price and right off Highway 16 (but still quiet!) and close to the ferry terminal....what more could you ask?

All the best,
Phil

Room Tip: Advise the motel if you are coming in/leaving late and they will do what they can to help.

We found this place here on Trip Advisor after reading through the other reviews. Great value for your money, the rooms are very spacious, clean and have kitchenettes. We even got a packed breakfast as we had to leave very early to get to the ferry to Port Hardy. Would absolutely recommend it and stay there again.

We choose to stay here, again after reading the reviews. We needed a room for a night, having arrived from the ferry from Skagway late the night before. We wished we'd known that we could have got a room well after 11pm if we'd just let the Motel know, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, clean and the bathroom good. It was also quiet. It's a bit out of town, so it's not centrally located, but if you have a vehicle that's no problem, and if you have an RV or a vehicle with a camper trailer (as we do), there's plenty of parking available. It was also quiet and very reasonably priced. We had another early morning start to get the ferry to Port Hardy, so we didn't get to sample the coffe and freshly baked scones other reviewers have mentioned. We wished we done more homework before we arrived and booked the hotel for our two nights in Prince Rupert. We'd definitely stay again if we ever found ourselves in town.

Room Tip: If you don't want to lug your luggage up stairs, try and get a room on the ground floor.

Clean, quiet, comfortable, friendly staff & dog friendly. Hands down, the BEST motel experience we have ever had! Management really got this right. Retro appliances in excellent working condition, flat screen TV, industrial super flush toilet and robust shower head. And bonus - coffee and freshly baked scones for breakfast. Reservations strongly advised. Perfect for late night arrival (ferry) from Port Hardy. This was the only reasonably priced accommodation in Prince Rupert that would take our 3 dogs. What a blessing! I would go back any day with or without dogs. Our only regret- that we didn't book 2 nights!

Room Tip: Our corner suite was large with queen bed and had 2 windows
