When we arrived to check-in we were greeted by a friendly lady called Dorothy and was given a room upgrade - we had booked a crest class twin room, to a suite and the room was absolutely wonderful, window seat with a harbour view, but unfortunatley we had to leave the next morning at 05:00 to catch the ferry.

While I'll give the Crest credit, it is a nice hotel, my recent stay there was not. I was placed in room 232 for the one night I was staying in Prince Rupert. The size of the room is very small and the bathroom tile had mold growing in the grout lines and in the silicone along the bathtub. This room is situated over the front doors and so every time the front doors slide open, you can hear them, making for a some what sleepless night. The room was very warm, even with the thermostat turned down to 15 degrees celsius. Your view is of the roof over the front door and a large tree, making it almost impossible to see anything. I do have to commend the Crest on the bed though; it was very comfortable. My recommendation is to "stay out of room 232" and perhaps have a look at the room before you agree to stay in it. That was my mistake and that will not happen again.

We stayed at the Crest Hotel on the last night of an 11 night trip and it was a very pleasant way to end a trip. The room and the staff were both excellent. We paid the lowest rate available, $125, which meant our room looked out over the roof, but the room was large, clean and comfortable and since we were only in Prince Rupert for one night there was no reason to upgrade. Excelllent value and the restaurant isoutstanding!!

Grew up going here with mom & dad, it was nice to return as an adult. It hadn't changed a great deal, but it has mostly been kept up. It is a tad dated, but mostly in a positive way - almost like an older lodge feeling. We stayed in a room on the first floor with 2 double beds overlooking the harbour, and we brought along our fur-kid (dog).

The linens were clean and the beds were comfortable. The TV selection was more than adequate (as the last reviewer explained) - if you really want more than 60 channels while you're on vacation save yourself some money, stay home and rent some movies.

Great location within walking distance to Cow Bay and Safeway and great views of the harbour. Charlie's Lounge has a nice selection of drinks, including some nice (but expensive) wines by the glass - and delicious fish and chips. We also ate in the restaurant for breakfast looking out over the harbour and enjoyed the food there as well.

The carpets are due for replacement and OK, so the bathroom is still dated and small - but who cares, how much time do actually spend in there anyways? The Aveda products were a very nice touch. We did hear some noise from the hallway with people coming and going, but not enough to keep us awake.

I don't agree with the reviewer who indicated to travel on to Terrace, we have had much better experiences and stays in Prince Rupert.

The Crest is definetely the best choice in Prince Rupert and an excellent choice if willing to book a harbour view room.

Thank you for your kind words regarding your recent visit to the Crest Hotel and Prince Rupert.

I have noted your comments regarding the bathroom in your room requiring renovation. We have completed guestroom bath renovations to roughly 75% of the hotel and are completing renovations on an additonal 20 beginning November 2009.

We look forward to having you join us in the future.

We had a three night stay booked here between arriving on the Skeena train and leaving on the ferry to Port Hardy. We know we could not have found a better hotel in town having been into some and talking to people staying in some of the others. All the staff we came into contact with went out of their way to be helpful. The view from the dining room was superb with even more pairs of binoculars for us to use. This was matched by the excellent quality food. Like others who have reported here, we do not judge a hotel by its television. The room was very well appointed and the beds comfortable. The window seat with binoculars was nice added touch as was proof that management know their own town by also providing us with an umbrella. My only criticism is about the bathroom. At first, it looked superb and probably would be in your own home but this is a hotel where I suspect most guests do not stay many nights. That means you are transferring toiletries etc. in and out of bags and could really do with a flat surface to put things on. The only ones in the bathroom are the top of the toilet and the small shelves.

My husband and I just stayed at Crest Hotel for 4 nights. We have stayed in many really nice hotels around the world and I have to say that Crest is really great. So what if they don't have movies to order as someone complained in one of those reviews below? 60 TV channels should be enough to choose from, right? Prince Rupert has lots of outdoors activities to offer so you don't especially go there for movies.... Our room was very nice, spacious, great view of Pacific ocean (they provide binoculars in each room). Bathroom was new and extremely clean with Aveda (ladies will appreciate this) amenities. Amazing waterfront restaurant with great food - best salmon-shrimp cakes I ever had. The hotel is only 5 min walk from the local museum and a shopping district Cow Bay. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Thank you for taking the time to let the trip advisor world know of your recent stay at the Crest Hotel. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay, the Waterfront Restaurant and Prince Rupert. We are a family owned hotel originally constructed in 1961 that is continually trying to raise the level of service through hiring the very best people and adding amenities, ie. Binoculars, Aveda bath products and continually upgrading our facilities.

One of the most satisfying aspects of my position is to read the comments from guests who enjoyed their experience.

Again thank you for taking the time, we look forward to having you stay with us in the future.
