“Good hotel, poor location.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2012

We stayed here for one night on our fly/drive holiday heading towards Prince Rupert and our ferry to Vancouver Island. We would like to have given it a 'Good' review but on Tripadvisor you can only select Average or Very Good!
We thought it was a good hotel and the room was everything you would expect in Canada.
There is not a lot to see or do in Prince George and we wished we had spent most of the day in Jasper before travelling to Prince George.
For our evening meal we walked to The Keg which is two blocks away from the hotel but we did have the hotel complimentary breakfast the next morning and thoroughly enjoyed it.
A good hotel in a 'stopover' town.

My wife and booked in this hotel in 2011. It offers complimentary breakfast and the pool is great for swimming deep enough for a good swim but not as dangerous if you have small kids ( but you still have to supervise them). The place is quite old but well kept. It is located in downtown Prince George near a bingo hall and near other hotels . Offers wifi and has a limited exercise room. We haven't been back since 2009 but overall, it was a good experience for us. The entire hotel, we found have mature patrons and not noisy.

Prince George is the most boring and ugly town we have ever visited. But entrering the Coast Inn brings you into another world. Very service minded people at reception, a good choose of restaurants and nice comfortable rooms. We would though have liked to have a refrigiator in the room.

Dear Guest,

We are pleased you had a pleasant stay in our "boring" city. I am sure city fathers will take note of that. Thank you so much for your comments on our staff, service and choice of restaurants.

We hope to see you sometime in the future in your travels,

Regards,

Prince George wasn't the prettiest stop on our tour but the Coast Inn of the North made the overnight tolerable, once inside you enter a different world with excellent restaurant choice, we ate a very good meal in the Japanese restaurant and had a drink in the bar afterwards. Maybe it is a good job that the hotel has such variety of options as the surrounding area and downtown is so disappointing in choice or visual appeal.
All the staff in the hotel were attentive and knowledgeable. The hotel was up to the high standard we found almost everywhere in Canada, including hotels with higher profiles. Coast should be proud of this member of their chain.
We used the inside swimming pool but not the gym and had no complaints, just couldn't understand why it was so obviously underused.

Room Tip: Go high to avoid possible road noise but there are no good views to any side.

Dear Guest,

We are glad you enjoyed our hotel and our amenities more than Prince George itself. We all are very proud of our hotel and the services we offer. The city of Prince George is working hard to make downtown little more exciting and appealing for visitors.
We look forward to welcoming you back perhaps to a brand new downtown PG and ofcourse Coast Inn of the North.

sincerely,

I have always stayed at the Coast Inn of the North in PG. The staff is incredible; especially Lori at Winston's lounge. She is like family away from home. She know what I want and how I want it and she is an absolute gem. My day gets better when I see her happy face and she mixes my cesears just right, with a shrimp of course. Thank you Lori for making my trips to PG just that much better!!

I was a little trepidacious when walking down the heavily soiled hallway carpet to our room, but the room itself was clean and well appointed.. We got a junior suite with 2 double beds and a pull-out couch. You get a mini fridge, and if there's a microwave available (there was), you can request one. There is a small patio as well. For the spaciousness of the room you could hope for a bigger bathroom, but it's a pretty tight squeeze. Lots of amenities, though (hairdryer, mouthwash, shampoo, plenty of towels). The beds were comfortable. The A/C didn't seem to be doing much, so good thing it wasn't too hot outside. There is a decent pool that thankfully isn't chlorinated within an inch of its life, like some. The whirlpool and sauna were a bit disappointing. There is a decent gym with a TV and a water cooler (we got all our water for coffee, etc here, as PG water isn't great). We didn't go to any of the restaurants, but we hear good things. We did have breakfast at the little cafe one, where they do their continental breakfasts and prime rib nights (they gave us a voucher when there was a mix-up with the reservation). There is a spa and hair salon in the hotel as well. The staff was really nice, from the front desk to the cleaning staff. There is a $10 per night charge for pets.

Room Tip: There's breakfast vouchers to be had if they screw anything up, so speak up.. For the price of...

Hello doug z,

Thank you for the feedback. I am glad you found the room well-appointed. With regards to the hallway carpet, they have had some wear, but we are in an ongoing process of shampooing them. I am very happy you found all of the staff friendly, including the cleaning staff and desk agents. We hope to see you again.
