“Upscale, classy place to eat.”
Reviewed November 12, 2011

We decided to celebrate our 23 Anniversay with a dinner at Bogners. I was able to pick our table in a well appointed dining area. Very clean, crisp white linen table cloths, and sparking silverware and glasses. Our dinners were absolutely wonderful, service was excellent, and the ambience wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant.

“A very nice wine festival event”
Reviewed October 11, 2011

One of our party of 5 had allergy issues that were dealt with by an immediate alteration despite this being a fixed menu event. We were all then able to enjoy a nicely done and largely local meal complete with excellent wine pairings. Attentive service topped off our evening.

“Down to earth techniques that produce out of this world food!”
Reviewed October 11, 2011

Chef Darin was a wonderful host cooking up a storm for us and teaching us real techniques we can take with us into the kitchen every time. The cooking class he offered was a lot of fun as well as educational. His farm to table philosophies are admirable and pay off in every way. The food was simple but totally delicious. I will make Bogner's a stop on my list everytime I am in the area.

“Five dressed up like a nine.”
Reviewed October 3, 2011

After a great day of gofling and wine tasting, my husband and I were very much looking forward to a nice dinner at Bogners;. After all, Bogners had been recommended to us both by locals as well as by the conceirge at the hotel. Moreover, conceptually at least, Bogners was on our radar because of thier reputation for using locally sourced ingredients, some produced on the grounds of the restaurant.

We arrived early by choice because it was the first days of the Okanagan Winefestival and wanted to ensure we were able to get a table. No problem there.....we were the only people there until 7:00 PM. The hostess and server were friendly and made is feel very much at home. The waitress talked a lot about the talents of the chef his use of local ingredients. Ok, bring it on!

I ordered a beet salad that promised hand picked greens, beets, goat cheese and candied pecans. Yes, greens there were but adorned with one sliced beet and scant cheese and pecans. Definately a miss. My husdand ordered the escargot delivered in a cast iron ramakin with pearl onions, mushrooms and a delicious broth. To be fair, this was wonderful with the fresh bread for dipping. We also shared a fresh tomato salad from thier garden and it was fantastic.

Moving on the main course, (or so we hoped), delivered well over an hour after out salads. By now there were three other table in the diningroom but it was certainly not busy. I had the Arctic Char on quinoa and by husband, the filet. Char was just ok, somewhat tasteless and the filet over cooked to medium rendering it tasteless. The waitress was very good about taking it back to the kitchen and ordering reordering a rare filet as was first intended. Unfortunately, by the time the second filet make it to the table, dinner was over, wine was gone and we were ready to call it a night. Two bites later, the filet and desert were packed up and we were anxious to head out the door.

Final analysis, over two hours for dinner and not for the pleasure of lingering over a great meal. Dinner for two and a moderately priced bottle of wine was $160.00, money that would have been well worth it had the dinner been half as good as the waitress described.

We agreed, a two dressed up like a nine.

“Amazing Experience”
Reviewed September 23, 2011

We recently were treated to a very unique night at Bogners restaurant in Penticton. I am not sure how avaialable this experience is to the general public but the Naramata wine association booked us into the 'Chef's table' at Bogners. We went not knowing quite what to expect but upon arrival we were ushered through the kitchen to a small room at the back of the restaurant. The room was literally where they typically do food prep and store some of their kitchen equipment. Despite this it was spotlessly clean, painted a cool colour and was dressed up with a beautiful light fixture and a intimite table for two. Over the next few hours we were treated to some amazing food (almost exclusively soursed from Bogners own local farm) and some fantastic local wine. The entire staff took part in serving us but we were introduced to each course and wine pairing by the owner and chef Darin Paterson. Darin always had an ear out for the goings on in the kitchen but he spent a good part of the evening talking to us about food, wine, and his travels around the world. The food was uniquely simple but so fresh and learning it came from just up the road really created what felt like a genuine local experience. The private table at the back of the klitchen was an experience we had not been treated to before anywhere and something we will not forget.
