“Gods Mountain is a treat”
Reviewed September 10, 2009

We have travelled extensivly throughout North America and Europe and we always look for unique hotels, family owned with great food.. What a gem of a hotel. Our room was clean, tastefully decorated with beautiful antiques and comfortable beds. The tone is of comfrotable and hopitable elegance. The perfect combination for a relaxing holiday. The breakfast was sumptuous, certainly enough to keep one going all day. The Hotel is family owned, has a swimming pool and the most breathtaking views. We felt transported to a villa in Greece or to the Cote D'Azur.

Gods Mountain is a fabulous, eclectic Bed and Breakfast. Sarah Allen is the perfect hostess in her own home. Her welcoming manner, helpfullness and availability to answer all our questions is done graciously and with great taste. Gods Mounyain is a truly lovely Hotel and I would encoutage your readers to sample the Okanagan there. We can't wait to return. The Goldenbe

The setting is majestic and the breakfasts are quite good. But it's downhill from there. Way downhill. My husband and I, along with another couple, spent three sweltering days here at the end of July in middle of a heat wave. Our rooms were "cooled" only by table fans which did little more than move around the hot air. I don't need the comforts of a five star hotel, but this was ridiculous.

I found it curious that nowhere on the extensive website was there mention of the lack of AC. But there is notice of an onerous cancellation policy (30 days, as I recall), so that if a sauna is not your idea of a comfortable night's sleep, you can't leave without forfeiting several hundreds of dollars.

Regarding the breakfasts: the table was laden with an array of fresh fruits, freshly baked cakes and eggs, sausage, etc. Absolutely delicious. But upon arrival, we were given strict instructions to come to breakfast at 9am because at 9:15, the field workers would descend upon the breakfast room and eat everything in sight.

Then there are the animals. Or more accurately, their droppings. Just for the record, I love animals and especially dogs. But between their three dogs and a horse, all of whom have the run of the property, the aroma of manure permeated certain spots.

Finally the fact that for the three days we were there, the same crumbs and glass rings remained on the tables on the porch. And the same dead insects remained floating in the pool. Wet rag, anyone?

Bottom line, the owner is an eccentric woman who should never have ventured into the hospitality industry. Because hospitality is not her strong suit. Rather than seeking to accommodate her guests, she demands that her guests acquiesce to her Idiosyncrasies.

Wow what a fabulous experience this is. Beautiful scenery amidst an increidble award wining winery and perched high up on a mountain bench overlooking the serene waters of Skaha Lake.

A place offering peace, tranquility and gracious hosts. No phone, TV or distractions, just pure nature and an amazing views from all places.

Breakfast is a feast. The penthouse was so private and the perfect place for total rest and relaxation. Next time I hope to stay in the 'roofless room' and sleep under the stars.

I have visited this unique accommodation at least five times in the past three years as it provides a haven where i can relax and reflect. The lodge is nestled within a vineyard overlooking Skaha Lake and surrounded by rocky hills that can be explored.

in 2008 I stayed for several days in July, at the height of the season and returned in late October to enjoy the tranquility of the quiet season. The setting and location is perfect with a large lodge where you can be alone or meet others depending on your own preferences. The facilities for guests are exceptional with numerous cozy seating areas, a full kitchen in the lodge, several barbecue grills around the pool, and a hot tub with spectacular views.

My favourite rooms are the penthouse and the roofless room which offer a completely different experience. The former is spacious on different levels and has a view in every direction. The latter is seasonal and provides an unforgettable soak in a tub while enjoying a night of moonlight and/or stars. The lodge itself defies all normal conventions which adds to its charm. Each room in the lodge is unique and worth viewing or trying. Nearly all the guests I met return regularly and book a year in advance to ensure they get the room and dates they want.

The owners go out of their way to provide a warm, comfortable and most hospitable atmosphere. Sarah is always available to provide information on local attractions and activities when requested. To fully enjoy this wonderful B&B you will need at least three days as it is a destination and not a stop on the way.

Poor experience. Aloof disconnected owners -- not interested in their guests' satisfaction. Not sure what attracted them to the B&B/Inn game?

Unsuitable, untrained staff. Issues with maintenance and cleanliness. Muddled breakfasts.

A shame since the location is exceptional as is the team that caters their Sunday Orchard dinners.

The web site seemed to promise a little paradise BUT
unfortunately the quality of the B & B was so much exagerated.
How would you like to sleep on mattress so unconfortable you would think they came from an old camp ? How would you like to feel the rooms so damp, they would smell like haven been flooded by an hurricane ? How would you like to have to clean your bathroom before washing yourself ? How would you like to feel you have made a reservation in a Youth Hostel that was never cleaned deeply???
I would suggest everybody to visit the room you want to rent before paying the price that is asked to you !!!
We, unfortunately, had reserved after visiting the web site !
Take care, the patrons are very hypocrite and put on a very good show ! They told my friends from Pentiction that had been to check the place before our reservations that there was no room free to visit !!!
Even the publics'places (sitting room, lecture room, foyer, etc.) would need a good clean up to justify the price !
Gene cool...but not so cool after her stay there !
