“Rude poor service.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2012

Beautiful grounds and view from the winery. That was about the only positive thing I have to say. Visited 15 wineries this weekend, this was by far the worst for service and quality. Red Rooster was the one and only winery of the 15 we visited that collects a $5 tasting fee up front in cash before allowing tasting. They then provide two $5 coupons that must be used on separate bottles of wine.

The person serving the wine was young and inexperienced, provided no explanation for the wine whatsoever, and paid little attention aside from collecting the tasting fee and pouring the wine. The quality of the wine was also easily the worst of the 15 wineries we visited. It is mass produced and can be purchased in most BC liquor stores.

Let's move on to the restaurant. We waited nearly an hour for our food. 52 minutes to be exact. We were A party of two. meanwhile, a party of 10 sat down as we were ordering, ordered 15 minutes after us, and received their food before us. Service was rude in the restaurant as well as the winery (for us at least). This was in fact the first time in over a decade that I have not left a tip, the service was that bad.

I have my theories as to why we received such poor rude service & the reasons for the up front tasting fee in cash that almost no other winery charges, but we will stick to the facts here.

Go to the winery across the street. The service and the wine are spectacular.

“Red Rooster Wine tasting”

Lovely winery! Five dollar tasting fee but it goes towards any purchase you make there. Very knowledgeable and provided good pairing suggestions.

“It's ok but we liked the winery next door better”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2012

Convenient location. One of the wineries we visited on the Naramata bench. We like white wines and we are not into uber dry wines...we found one wine we liked but a lot were drier for our taste...we found the wines better at Ruby Red next door

“Okanagan Winery - Cupid at Red Rooster”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 30, 2012

What can I say - my wife and I fell in love here.

It is a wonderful winery along Naramata road: interesting sculptures on the well kept grounds, the playfully fun parallel rows of fruited grape vine, upstairs art gallery, great flavors to sample. Relaxing stop on a tour of BC wine country.
