Located in the heart of Naramata Bench wine region, Hillside prides itself in proving its customers with the “Ultimate Naramata Experience”. Hillside’s well-equipped cellar, under the direction Winemaker Kathy Malone, produces top quality Okanagan Valley wines destined for many markets. Unique, small-lot, and terroir-driven are terms best used to describe our wines. Our focus is showcasing hand-crafted wine made exclusively from our estate vineyards and other Naramata grape growers.

My friend and I visited Hillside Estate Bistro for lunch on a trip to the Okanagan to visit wineries. The Bistro was recommended for lunch, so we made our way from Osoyoos to Penticton for a bite. We weren't disappointed in the food at least. I wasn't very impressed with the Pinot Gris or Merlot that we had, but the food was excellent. I had an apple and carrot soup which was so tasty, followed by one of the most delicious caesar salads that I have had (heirloom tomatoes, kale, great flavours). When in Penticton, or at least the neighbourhood, make sure to stop by and have a meal at the Hillside Bistro.

This was a superb choice for a light lunch...except the portions were huge. The daily soup special was excellent, but followed by the chicken sandwich made it a large meal. The environment was relaxed and there was no wait for a table. It was a nice relaxing spot to enjoy our wine and lunch. One day we will return to try the dinner menu.

We enjoyed dinner at the bistro on the first day of their "october fest" promotion. We didn't go for the "special plate" featuring ham, bratwurst, etc. too much sodium for us. Instead we chose from their regular menu and found the food to be excellent and very reasonable priced.

We were just passing through for a coffee and maybe a cake. No espresso in a place like this? Unbelievable. So we took a risk on a drip. Mistake. After a 15 minute wait, one and one quarter cups arrived with a promise that the shortfall would appear in 5 minutes or so, as soon a fresh batch was made. Did this also mean that the partial cups in front of us were stale? Would we really get a hot cup on the top-up? Decided to take no further risks and abandoned ship as time was also pressing. At least we were not charged for a very indifferent cup. The first slipways enough. Funny thing is we had enjoyed a nice lunch here 3 years ago on an earlier visit to Penticton.

Everything we ate at this restaurant was great! The duck sandwich, pork cheeks and soup had a wonderful combinations of flavors. Those delicious items combined with great wine and an unbeatable sunset and it makes for one stunning evening.
