“What a view!! You gotta lakeside room!!”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

it is all about the view. the rooms are comfy and nice and clean and way more than adequate. the service and the helpful staff are great as well. i went there for a conference and stayed an extra night. it was great overall.

Room Tip: you gotta get a lakeside view room. no point in staring at the parking lot. pay the xtra money.

My husband and I stayed here for the 2nd time while participating in the Penticton Gran Fondo bike ride. What we like best about this hotel is the location (right on the lake), the view if you get a lakeside room, and the really good restaurants that are part of the hotel. The rooms are not deluxe but they are adequate. We started our stay in a 1-bedroom king suite on the city-side and it had a separate bedroom and living area with an empty bar fridge where we could keep some food, 2 TV's, and a balcony. Then we moved to a lakeside king Jacuzzi room which was very spacious with a king bed, 1 large flat-screen tv, a big Jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room (which we didn't use), an empty bar fridge to keep our food in, and a large balcony overlooking the lake. I was concerned about noise on that side of the hotel because there are 3 restaurants down below with outdoor patios but our room was at the west end and actually angled away from the noisy area. The only noise we got was the air-conditioning for the restaurant below so we gave up trying to sleep with the sliding door open. We were on the 4th floor and had a very nice view of the lake. When we first moved into this room we couldn't get the tv to work and a maintenance man was sent up within 1/2 hour. He tried various things to fix it and we ended up leaving him working on it while we went out to dinner. When we got back we had a new tv that worked. The hotel was full this weekend and we found the service to be pretty good. And we liked the extra touch of delivering complimentary fresh chocolate chip cookies and fruit to the room every afternoon. Also the Wi-Fi in the room was complimentary - very nice.
There is an indoor pool and hot tub but we didn't use it. It was full of kids when we looked at it. We enjoyed the little hotel beach and swam in the lake. You can always get a chaise lounge at the beach and there is a little snack shack there where you can order food/drinks from. The hotel pub has a fabulous open air patio right at the edge of the lake and there is an Italian restaurant which also has an outdoor patio at the edge of the lake. The room rate includes breakfast at the Hooded Merganser Restaurant which is right in front of the hotel and is built over the lake with nice outdoor tables along the perimeter. This restaurant has an excellent breakfast menu and they also serve lunch and dinner. All 3 restaurants are really good and you just can't beat their location. The hotel location is very central: downtown Penticton is across the street. The Sat Farmers Market is right there and it goes down Main St as far as you can see. It was the best Farmers Market we have ever seen. Then on Sunday the start and finish lines for the Gran Fondo were right there as well.
We will stay at this hotel for any trips we have to Penticton. It's just the perfect location and the hotel has great amenities.

Room Tip: On the lakeside you want a higher floor above the noise of the restaurants below and if you get a ro...

The people that work at the resort made our holiday experience worth every penny. All the staff were friendly and helpful. I will definitely be making a return visit. We came to see the Elvis Festival which carried over into Canada Day Long weekend. We all had a wonderful time. we are at every restaurant in the hotel. I would recommend any of them. Good was great and service was awesome.

Room Tip: The lakeside is preferable as the view is spectacular. Nightly entertainment can be seen from the b...

We stayed in an executive room and one might class it as such... the room still has the 80's/90's look (eg - the faucet in the tub/shower is ages old and the furniture is dated). As well, if you DO come, do NOT get a room on the west side overlooking the restaurant - the fan runs 24/7 and is very loud - hard to sleep. Then, the path in front of the lake is public and there was a major altercation at 2:30 AM and the police had to be called to take away drunk and abusive teens. Not a good deal at all.

I was here on business but felt that I was on holidays. The hotel is clean, the room quiet and confortable. The view from my room was overlooking the lake. There was a live band playing outside. The staff were helpful and it was a great place to stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at the resort and loved the staff and the great food! Our room was on the fourth floor overlooking the lake and had a fabulous view. I brought along a fan for 'white noise' and am really glad I did as there seems to be weird acoustics for the lakeside rooms and it can be noisy. I'm not sure either why the balcony lights are all on all night, thank heavens for the blackout curtains. That being said, it was a lovely stay.
