I love this place and the view of the lake is amazing! It is family and pet friendly, central to everything and the private beach is great for the kids and the margaritas here are wonderful.
Matt is one of the beach boys that work here and he seems to take pride in his work and ensures that the beach area is clean, that the guests are comfortable and he does a great job!
It makes a difference any where when the staff are welcoming and although I am not sure of her name the lady that was here in the food stand on the beach was also great and even stayed open later for the two families on the beach (one of the families being us) in case we wanted anything. Michael was at the front desk (we have been here 3 times in the last month) and he as usual was helpful and gave the kids crayons and colouring books to keep them busy until our room was ready since we arrived early. Thanks again for the cookies Michael and to anyone looking for a family friendly place with great staff and a stunning view of the lake be sure to visit. We will be back next year and have enjoyed our stays here this Summer. It feels like home away from home.

Room Tip: Lakeside is beautiful and I sleep like a log so if you are a light sleeper or have little ones the c...

This hotel is in a perfect location. Our room had an amazing view of the water and pier.
The room itself is dated and needs upgrading but was clean.
We were there for the August long weekend 2012 and unfortunately, the noise level for both nights was unacceptable. Boom boxes, loud music from the night club until 2am. Drunk patrons running up and down the halls laughing and talking loudly and slamming their doors. Being that
it was very hot weather (35-38C) the room was fairly warm and the air conditioner did not seem to be working. The breakfast at the Bufflehead (Sp??) was terrible. Consisted of a small table choice from stale bran muffins and pastries, fruit, Activia yogurt containers, bagels, cream cheese packages and lukewarm breakfast wraps(scrambled eggs and green pepper) sitting in paper and foil wrap in a warmer. Each item was separately priced and expensive for what you got. The service at this restaurant was terrible, they just didn't seem to care. Openly complaining to each other about how slow the day was. "Im going to check our sales today. I don't think we will even make our 10%" one said to the other.
With the exception of the front office staff and housekeeping, it was a very disappointing experience.

Wow overpriced, noisy, dirty this was easily the worse hotel I have ever stayed in what a joke, except I am out the cash! And get this you have to pay for parking!
Not what was advertised, the private beach is even more of a joke.

My guess is this is the best hotel in downtown Penticton. Great location for walking around. Restaurant had great daily specials and was a great place to eat with good food and service. Room was really clean and although didn't have some of the 'great' extras was good. Lakefront rooms would be my first choice but if we had had a lakefront room we would have missed the incredible lighhtning storms that were going on! Quiet location. Charge for parking!

We have been coming to Penticton every summer for the last 10 years. 9 of 10 years we have stayed at the Penticton Lakeside. We would have expected a free upgrade or some acknowledgement as repeat customers, but nothing. The hotel is badly in need of an upgrade. By way of example, our Lakeside room ($200 per night) we had to request wine glasses, our hairdryer was broken, and our shower fawcett had to be fixed two times as it wouldn't switch from bath to shower. It never was fixed, just pulled up all the way so the shower worked properly, we didn't dare try to switch it back to bath.

While the front desk has greatly improved, I have to say the level of professionalism, doesn't match the room rate. The service at the Barking Parrot is remarkably slow. It just feels like no one wants to spend the money to provide the sort of room and service you would expect. The Barking Parrott keeps you up on weekends until 2 am. Apparently the income from the bar and Casino, trumps the comfort of the guests. One exception was that the assistant manager at the Bufflehead is fantastic.

By way of comparison, I was at a conference in Victoria the week prior. I stayed at the Magnolia, for $170 per night. It's kiddy corner to the Empress, great locale. The rooms were fantastic. Separate soaker tub and shower, new tile, modern comfy bedding complete with pillow menu, and a proper mini bar. To top it all off Aveda bath products. The staff were so professional, not teenagers working summer jobs.

It may be time to move to the Ramada....

My family and I had never been to this resort before and we loved it so much that we went again the next weekend and added two days on. It is paradise and the kids enjoyed their stay and everything we needed was right there at the resort. The kids went parasailing, boating, tubing, on the ski-doos and had the time of their life! My one son is asking that we have his birthday there next year! The suite was clean, the staff at the shack (where the rentals are) were excellent and Michael who works the front desk made our stay extra special with cookies sent to the room for the kids (they loved them the last week) and a special fruit basket left in our room on our Anniversary. Michael was great with tending to anything and everything we needed and was very pleasant even though my son must have called front desk 10 x while we were there. Thank you Michael, you really made our stay that much more enjoyable and we will be back and I hope for August!

I loved my stay, recommend this place and it is truly paradise. Be sure to visit the Hood Merganser restaurant at the resort. It over looks the lake and the food is excellent.

Room Tip: Lakeview is gorgeous
