“Total Dive”
Reviewed June 6, 2007

Arrived by taxi from airport at 11p.m. Hotel door locked, nobody at reception. Waited outside for several minutes. Room had strong musty smell, bed squeaked. No mini bar, no water avaiable except out of tap. Pool drained, out-of-use. Unhelpful receptionist. Unappealing breakfast area, dirty coffee mugs and cutlery. The place is a by-the-highway dive. I checked out in less than 12 hours. For the same room rate, I am now at the Penticton Lakeside resort which is great.

The room was comfortable but in need of modernisation. We did not like both doors opening direct to outside.

Lavatory cisterns could be changed to silent type as adjacent room noise unacceptable.

Now for the good points, the staff were most helpful and courteous. The breakfast was very good.

Most important was the complimentary wireless internet access, a must as my wife and I were travelling on business and needed regular communication back in the UK.

Just left the BW Penticton where my husband and three year old stayed seven nights in a kitchenette suite (seperate bedroom and a pull out couch in main sitting area.) I booked the room by contacting the hotel directly back in September as it is impossible to get a room online. We paid 175.00 with tax.

I have to admit I was pretty disappointed when we finally got to our room for our big summer holiday. The room is very basic with peach/tan colored cement walls and white tile floors.(Very 80's) There were only a few old gold framed pictures on the wall. The curtains were thin and faded. The shower curtain was thin, white and not the cleanest. The pots and pans and dishes (some a little dusty or dirty) were OK but some pots needed to be replaced. They provided us with a broom but it was so warped it didn't work. There was an air conditioner in the main area but not in the bedroom. The bedroom did get pretty hot. There is no pay movies.

The BW has two pools. The first pool is outside surrounded by a large courtyard. This pool was kept at a comfortable temp. and they provided pool towels. There were lounge chairs around the pool although many were not handling a larger person sitting in them.

The second pool is off the courtyard and is indoors. It was comfortable temp. There was a hot tub there as well. Both pools were not fairly clean.

There is a BBQ area in front of the outdoor pool...Warning it is a charcoal BBQ so it take a while to warm up your coals before cooking. The hotel provides the coals and light logs.

There is a restaurant though it was pretty empty most of the time. I think most families ate in/out of their rooms. There is no room service.

There is a Large metal slide a small metal slide and two teeter-toters for the kids to play on. In the evening they bring out a tv and the kids can sit and watch a movie.
Many families gathered around the courtyard and were staying an extended amount of time. This was great because the kids soon became playmates!
**I would recommend getting a room on the bottom floor rather than the top so that you are not constantly running up and down stairs for things!**

So even though my family has wonderful memories of our holiday at BW...the hotel still needs a major renovation! They need to replace those torn shabby lawn chairs and hammocks in the courtyard and buy some new fresh shower curtains! Finally they should give all the windows, windows around the pool a good clean, and clean up the sticks in the courtyard. Though I doubt with a steady stream of visitors this will occur...!
*hope this helps.*

This is a clean but old motel that they have tried to look up dated.Poor maintenance of the property i.e. dead bolt in room didn't work, pieces of wood attached to the inside of the room wall where we think that there was a picture riped off. Branches on walkway to pool not picked up,rust on bottom of support coloums in pool area. For this price we expected more, this is a basic motel that looks good from the street. Be warned that they are building new condos on one side and are only about 10% done and on the other side they are only 5% started on that project.Next time we'll stay somewhere else.
