Owner description: Located in the heart of Naramata Bench wine region, Hillside prides itself in proving its customers with the “Ultimate Naramata Experience”. Hillside’s well-equipped cellar, under the direction Winemaker Kathy Malone, produces top quality Okanagan Valley wines destined for many markets. Unique, small-lot, and terroir-driven are terms best used to describe our wines. Our focus is showcasing hand-crafted wine made exclusively from our estate vineyards and other Naramata grape growers. The wine tasting room is hosted by knowledgeable staff who present our award winning wines to all who visit.

There is nothing better for lunch than the duck confit grilled cheese sandwich and a glass of one of their beautiful reds, or the rose. Manifique!

The wine tasting room has a nice warm feeling to it with very friendly and helpful staff. The wines were good but not great The nice thing is that you can find some less common varietals here like the Viongier which was quite pleasent.
We also had dinner here because we heard that it was top notch. I wouldn't say wee were disappointed with dinner at all, but we certainly were not blown away. Not excellent. Just good.

In July we took a trip into the Okanagan and visited the Hillside Estate Winery. It was not only beautiful to walk the grounds high above Okanagan Lake, but the venues offered were wide and well done. We went around the grounds first. They are immaculate and cared for. Walkways and shady places were numerous and in hot country you do seek these out!
The Tasting room was cool and the service impeccable. We were not "set upon", but as we made our way around you knew that all you had to do was look inquiring and someone would quietly let you know they were there to assist. We bought a wonderful pinot noir wine to go with the cheese we had picked up earlier a a little cheese place ( more on that in another place).
The dining Terrace was filled with shade and tables that were clean and placed restfully so that you could see over the valley. The food was just fabulous and served well.
I recommend this winery as a must for anyone wishing to meander about and not just rush in, taste and buy. Savour the flavour of the wine and place.

Muscat Ottonel is a very popular white. Reserve Merlots are often good. I hear the Mosaic is a good Bordeaux style blend but they don't let you taste it. Try the green salad in their restaurant, and if you love it you can buy the roasted apple vinaigrette in the wineshop :)

The food is amazing and beautifully presented--that is if you can see it! The first night we ate at Hillside the meal and service were amazing. Unfortunately the same can't be said for the second night. We were seated in an area that when it became dark, there was virtually no lighting near our table. The meal came late and frankly could not be seen. Our server did not offer to re-seat us even though a few tables had cleared. I have eaten here over the years and always had a fabulous experience. I am surprised not to get to write a stellar review. So, I would suggest to the manager now that more attention be paid when seating patrons near sundown (that is until they can provide lighting at each and every table).
