We were staying in hotel next door to the restaurant. We arrived at 7 PM on a busy night. The waiter took our drink order, and when our drinks arrived, we ordered our food. After 30 minutes or so, we hadn't been served (we ordered a salad and chicken wings), and noticed that no one else near us had been served either, but the waiter kept returning to customers and asking if they wanted to order more drinks. After another 15 minutes, the waiter told us the kitchen was swamped, and she couldn't give us an ETA on our food. By then, the customers at the next table were clearly intoxicated, but the waiter kept taking their drink orders with more vague promises about their food order. She asked us if we wanted to order more alcohol, I told her we didn't, and asked why we hadn't at least been served our salad. The wings and salad (both mediocre) arrived soon after. I don't know if it's the restaurant's policy, or if this waiter took her own initiative, but allowing patrons to get drunk by withholding prompt food service to build up bar tabs is contemptible.

While staying at the hotel next door, upon looking out my window, saw what looked to be a delightful outdoor patio serving food. Yes, the patio was great on a warm, sunny day, but the food was downright disgusting. It was a Monday and they had a burger and fries special. Upon ordering 'the special', I was told that the 'special' pricing meant I had to buy a drink to go along with it (extra cost involved, but it didn't necessarily have to be a bar item, not so special after all). All right then--Surprise No. 1. On to No. 2: Burger and fries arrived with added guacamole and cheddar, as requested, (additional cost, of course). Even with these two extras, the burger was practically tasteless and seemed to be made of cardboard. Were these patties out of a store-bought box? I've tasted better from those. The fries were of the match-stick variety and also tasteless--need to add lots of ketchup. Left most of both items on the plate and left with a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended). Next time, instead of turning to the right outside the hotel, turn left and try the other eating establishment.

one the Fraser River, with a large patio area. Service is usually good, food is average. If you are expecting awesome pub food you rave about then this is not the place. Reasonably priced, and various lunch specials-it just nothing leave me say-wow that was great-let's go back.

But the sunshine and the view make me return.

We went on a buffet luncheon and tour as part of our nursing reunion activities. A very enjoyable afternoon on the Fraser River with a most knowledgeable tour guide.

Sunday lunch with the place three quarters full and three servers on duty. Waited over an hour for fish and chips and deep fried prawns. Two tables adjacent to us were served food and one finished their meal before we were served . Both tables came in after us. Customers were coming up and helping themselves to condiments/Water. The kitchen staff were busy but their numbers appeared okay with no more than 8 orders outstanding at any time. Food was okay but quantity was 3/4's what it used to be with higher prices. Wine was average but you are paying up to $3.00 more for 1/2 litre. Another table adjacent to us was disgusted too and left after 3/4's of an hour, cancelling their food order. We have been coming to this Pub for many years when in town. The place must be in new inexperienced management because all the negative signs are in evidence. Good bye Paddle Wheeler.
