Tim Horton's is generally predictable, reasonable service, acceptable fast food. Today's experience at this location was not up to standard. Some of the staff may have been well trained but the young man at our cash register seemed incapable of understanding or remembering even one item at a time. And it was definitely not a question of language, just not focusing or not knowing the menu. And why does this location not accept Visa when I have been able to use it right across Canada and in locations beyond our borders?

Tim Horton's is not just a donut shop, it's the Canadian tradition. They have upgraded their menus and many shops have large TV screens that proudly promote donuts the size of a soccer ball. But in reality what you see on the display is what you get - fast food (sandwiches, soups, etc.), sweets with too much sugar and fat (hey, who is counting?), and of course the warm Tim's coffee ('double double' seems to be the favorite of many).

If you are visiting Canada, go to Tim Horton's at least once and you can proudly say that you have been 'Canadianized'. If you visit during the famous 'roll up the rim' time, you can win yourself a free donut or maybe even something better. And that's a mighty good thing so you can brag to your friends about it, eh?

We became hooked on Tim Horton's about 20 years ago and the love affair has never changed. The donuts are delicious and freshly baked and the coffee is very hot and flavorful. Recently, we were staying in Vancouver for a few days and the first morning, we just had to make a Tim Horton's run. Coffee and donuts were great, but it took three times to get our order correct. My advice is CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE COUNTER. We didn't, resulting in waiting in a long line AGAIN. The restrooms are fine. We did notice that this location in mid-Vancouver allowed homeless people to sleep at the tables. While we are sympathetic to this situation, it is rather startling. A very positive note is that they do take American money. It was very early and we hadn't traded any U.S. $ for Canadian, but they were very gracious and accepted it "at par." At the time, the U.S. Dollar was higher than the Canadian.

Cold, hard buns for sandwiches, soups obviously made from preservative-laden mixes, same with the frappucino-type drinks, false advertising about 'fresh all day!" because the donuts are made at 3am and chilled (a fresh donut should be still warm from the fryer, folks). I just can't understand why people like this place - I have given Timmy's many chances to redeem themselves in my eyes, trying different things on the menu but to no avail. It just sucks and there's no way around it. I have to believe that Canadians just don't know anything about good food.

Always fast service, great food, fantastic prices. Sometimes long lines, so avoid "prime times" Ocassional issues with staff but generally great experience
