Make sure to walk/climb the rocky outcrops at the end of the beach. Beautiful path...wonderful scenery...watch the ferries, the wildlife, etc.

Beautiful setting, good signs to find it, good parking, easy trails, dogs must stay on leash. Check the tide table before you go.

Pipers Lagoon Park was one of the parks that helped convince us to move to Nanaimo. This small, but very diverse, park offers a little bit of everything for everyone.

A grassy area with picnic tables and washrooms has hosted many of our 'pirate' themed birthday parties for our son.

The beach area is great for relaxing on or checking our the herring spawn.

The bluff area gives you a nice spot to look down at the water from.

The rock scramble is always fun. Great for kids to boot it up and down and a bit of a challenge for the older folks (makes you feel young again!). You can circumnavigate this on the lagoon side.

The point has a beautiful Garry Oak forest with nesting bald eagles. This short, 10 minute or so, hike immerses you in the forest and gives you great glimpses of the water and Shack Island.

The sandy point just off this hike has a couple of spots where kids have repeatedly built forts out of the drift wood. Our son has built and rebuilt one or the other of the forts countless times.

This fantastic, compact, park has it all and each and every time we go to Pipers we're reminded of how fantastic it is living on the West Coast.

Piper's Lagoon has wading pools for the kids, big grass areas, Shade trees, and a waterfront walk connected to the marina area with coffee shops. The water walk goes from Piper's Lagoon to downtown in one direction and to some nice rocky scenic beaches in the other direction.
