“Great surprise in Nanaime”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but it gets better once you get in. And after you taste the food it's great. The Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding appetizer was excellent
as was the main dishes; Five spice pan seared duck breast and Braised New Zealand lamb shank.
I even tasted my four year old Mack and cheese and could not believed how good and fresh it tasted. Well done

“Wow!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2013

I get together with my girlfriends once a month and it is so hard to find a place where the food is good, reasonable and the atmosphere allows us to talk as opposed to music pounding in the background. This little place was a huge surprise, the food was so delicious that I returned the next night with different friends for dessert! I have a garlic allergy and yet was able choose almost anything on the menu. I am used to being able to order food but usually can't have the sauces or gravies. Not the case here! I had the roast beef Yorkshire pudding sliders with the horseradish and mayo sauce. AMAZING. For the main course I had the special which was crepe stuffed with salmon. Again, it came with the most delicious sauce. When our food arrived, we were so busy enjoying the meal that no one spoke for at least 5 mins! I would recommend reservations because it is a small place. It has a nice relaxed atmosphere making it a perfect night out for anyone wanting great food.

“Pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2013 via mobile

I visited the bistro with a group of 6. All of us were very pleased with the service and food. It's very hard to impress my mother who use to be a chef and she was very happy. The pork chop special was delicious as was the pork entree, steak and potatoe skins. We tried the gluten free chocolate cake, lime cheesecake, ice cream cookie sandwich and ginger cake. All were very good. The ginger cake was a little bit too sweet. We will definitely be going again. I highly recommend making a reservation

“Quaint bistro with heart”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2013 via mobile

Nest Bistro is a quiet neighborhood gem. We had a group of nine and they fit us in with little warning and even were happy about it. That was the start of warm personal service. While I am gluten intolerant, our group loved the mac and cheese appetizer. Everyone enjoyed their meal but their special of the mahi mahi fennel dusted and mushrooms was the best. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious. The chefs were a married couple that genuinely appreciated my compliments.

“Fabulous meal!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

When another restaurant in town we hoped to eat at was completely booked for the evening, we decided to try the Nest and were so glad we did. All the food we had was fabulous - so creative and perfectly done. Presentation was top-notch. Lovely little restaurant with a quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend!
