“Not fancy - just right”
Reviewed August 11, 2009

Loved the location - just over a mile away from the harbour, and close to the town centre. The staff was helpful, friendly and accomodating. The rooms were clean and well prepared. I agree with the previous comment about the A/C. Being next to the main road in Nainamo makes it a bit noisy (but not that I really noticed). The rooms were small, but comfortable for my wife and I. We stayed two nights while visiting the Pacific Rim National Park.

It isn't a fancy hotel, but if you're looking for a clean, inexpensive place to stay in Nanaimo, look this place up.

The hotel is in a good location. You can walk up to the nice harbour. Also it's only 3 km from the ferry to Vancouver.

Did not like the airconditioning as it made lot's of noise and was to close to the bed. We had 2 hotelrooms and in the other room the AC did not cool up the room properly.
For the rest the hotel is ok for one night.

My partner and I stayed at the hotel to catch a bus tour the next day. The staff were wonderful and friendly, We parked our car there for 8 day's. Upon our return @ 9:30 pm on a Sat night, my partner was gravely ill with food poisening, the hotel was totally booked!!!! One of the front desk staff put us up in a meeting room with a trundel bed,It had an early meeting planned for the next day too. Your kindness and quality of customer service is to be commended, I too work in the Hotel ind and have close to 20 year's. I will recomend this Hotel to all I know and my traveling customers up here in Port Hardy too.
Thank You so much.

My total stay at this hotel only lasted about 8 hours so I can't comment on it at length. Overall, the room was clean with dated furnishings. Some staff members were somewhat gruff but others were friendly. The continental breakfast was minimal (unappealing danish and muffins, and some cereal). It is a satisfactory accommodation but nothing special.

Nanaimo is well-located for day-trips all over the island, and one can do very well as this motel for a base. It's very clean and well-run, with all the amenities except a hot tub/pool. A sauna and exercise room is available though. Good beds, of course. The place seems to have been updated recently, and the outside is being painted/improved as we are here.

We got our room changed quickly when the AC appeared problematic. Ask for a room on the backside for complete quiet. The location is a couple of blocks from the bayside walk, which leads to restaurants and park. The downtown "old town" shops are walkable as well. We paid considerably less for this than other places in the area. With so many choices in the area, many older and more expensive, here's your solution.

  • Liked — Quality at lower price than typical of the area
  • Disliked — No pool or hot tub
