The Pine & Picket B&B
Ranked #1 of 34 Nanaimo B&B and Inns

The lovely Pine & Picket made our stay in Nanaimo to a funny, culinary excellent, and very comfortable one. In the Madagaskar room we had more than everything you need - from bodylotion to dvd's - everything. Everything was clean and created with so much love. Ania and Ingvar are such lovely characters. Ania, a french chef, we fell under her cuisine-spell. She even considers your allergies or intolerances in her cooking. Everything is homemade and fresh and the fruits from their garden. And Ingvar serenaded us when we arrived :-) . Both are very welcoming and helpful as well as they give you the privacy you need.
We rate the Pine & Picket to the best B&B we've ever been to!

Thank you Ania and Ingvar for the great stay in your house!

The location of the Pine and Picket is perfect being just a minute from the departure bay ferry terminal in one direction and a stroll along the excellent waterfront into downtown Nanaimo in the other.

Ania and Ingvar are really outgoing people and obviously enjoy having people stay in their home. We had some great conversations during the three days we spent with them.and were also privileged to taste some of Ingvar's Elderberry wine. This doesn't actually taste like homemade wine but tastes like something a sommelier might recommend, mmmmm. Not to be outdone though Ania sent us away with a bottle of her very nice and very potent raspberry port, mmmmm.

Thanks to both of you for an enjoyable stay.

We recently spent 3 weeks in British Columbia staying in B&B`s. There were some good one`s, some very good one`s and above all was the Pine and Picket. If you have to imagine the perfect B&B this is it. The hosts, Ania and Ingvar, do absolutely everything to make your stay one to remember. Ania is a classically trained chef and this shows in her choice and cooking at breakfast., a word of warning here, if you only like cereal and toast for breakfast you will be missing an absolute treat and culinary creations you will remember for a long, long time.
Ingvar`s hospitality is second to none and his ability to burst into song at any time an absolute joy.
We stayed in the Provence room which had the most comfortable bed we have slept in for a long time, everything you need is at hand and a nice balcony you can use if the sun ever shines.
If you are ever in Vancouver Island do yourself a favour and stay at the Pine and Picket, you won`t regret it.

we had a very pleasant stay in the Provence room at the Pine and Picket. Very comfortable bed, room and bathroom.unfortunately we could not take advantage of our balcony because of the rain
Our very friendly host Ania, served homemade scones and the best eggs Benedict, all beautifully garnished with flowers and herbs from her garden, for breakfast. Would definitely recommend

What terrific luck to have been able to stay at the Pine and Picket for my first trip to this gorgeous island! I spent three luxurious nights at this most perfect of B&Bs. Where to even start? As so many have already commented, Ania's spectacular breakfasts are worth the visit ALONE, and her and Ingvar's hospitality is second to none. Their extensive fruit and herb garden inspires and graces all of Ania's exquisite and hearty breakfasts. The beautifully appointed Provence room with a private balcony and bay view, and the lightly trickling water fountain in the garden below is so fresh and restorative... you will feel spoiled from all other B&Bs once you stay here! It is so worth spending more than one night if possible, and being sure to go over to the nearby cars-free breathtaking Newcastle Island by "pickle boat" for an afternoon (among the great tips Ingvar and Ania shared with me), will really make your visit to Nanaimo complete. I cannot wait to go back and plan my trip around staying with them again!

That was the comment from my husband after our one night stay with the charming and hospitable Anya and Ingvar. From the home-made scones, served with home-grown fruits and preserves to the light and delicious egg benedict, it was a very special meal!
It was minutes from the ferry terminal, comfortable and spotlessly clean, quiet and relaxing. What more could we ask? A lovely experience for our first night on Canadian soil!

We spent two nights at the Pine and Picket during our 35th anniversary trip to Vancouver Island. Ania and Ingvar are delightful hosts. Ingvar breaks into song at any time and he's GOOD! Ania is a certified French chef. After one of her AMAZING gourmet breakfasts, you'll not need lunch.
We stayed in the Provence Suite. A charming room with a balcony. The bathroom had top of the line towels.
Our room overlooked Departure Bay. The weather was wonderful and we kept the door to the balcony open at night.
Make sure to visit the garden. When we were there, Ingvar had harvested several gallons of grapes. They use the vegetables, fruits and herbs from the garden.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. What a treasure.

Room Tip: There are two rooms. The larger room, Madagascar, overlooks the garden. The Provence Suite overl...
