I met a young woman who wholeheartedly endorsed this park. She did warn me though that there are shady characters in the park, but there is a lot of entertainment as well. She continued by explaining to stay out of the park at night.
I love the view of the valley, the quiet waters and of course the fresh mountain air.
As it turn out, I had a few drinks earlier and fell asleep in the park. I was not bothered by anyone. It felt safe. Lots of people walking dogs and simply taking in some excersize.
I was awakened by a security guard who kindly explained that the park closes at 22:00. (10 P.M.) Once I explained that I was a visitor, he understood and simply suggested that there is a $500 fine for being in the park after hours. But he also suggested that because I was a visitor, the authorities would not likely fine me. Phew... got me scared there for a second :)
The waterfront at that end of the downtown core is clean, very friendly and beautiful.
Big kudos to the city of Kelowna for the fine planning and keeping the area clean and safe!
