A bike ride or hike along the old railway bed is a wonderful experience. The canyon and surrounding area presented a huge challenge to the engineers and workers who built this remarkable railway line. For many years it flourished in the early 20th century as an economic boon to the local community. Now, it flourishes as a spectacular attraction for people young and old and from far and near. Travel the 18 trestles and 2 tunnels and dream of the old days as you savour the beauty of today. Allow at least half a day or longer for some pleasureable exercise and a good picnic lunch. Education and entertainment combine so nicely here.

If you are from the flatlands or are city folks, the views from here will impress. If you spend any time in the mountains, it's just another mountain view on a manicured trail.

The forest fire of 2003 burned through here and is a great opportunity to see what true nature is all about. Forest fires are not the evil, Bambi burning, horror machines the alarmist media like to portray. Fire is a natural and logical part of the continuous cycle of botany.

Shelf your concept of human time and see what a healthy ecosystem this burn is and use botanical time to realise what a healthy forest will result. There are far more eco-benefits to burns than the Sky Is Falling media sensationalism for anything that humans can't control.

So glad we spent the 25 minutes to drive up here. What a gorgeous day spent with my wife and my Boston Terrier! Lived in Kelowna for 10 years and had never been! Some of the best things in life are in your backyard... Will go up there again next year for sure!

A great place to bike with a friend or take a large group including little ones on a hike. Flat trails, beautiful wild flowers and amazing scenes looking down into the canyon and beyond. Even though it was destroyed by a fire in 2003, it is slowly starting to regrow and is a beautiful site.
Bring lots of water in the summer as it gets very hot. Make sure to lock your cars and leave no valuables as unfortunately the car park has been prone to theft.
The one thing I wish is that the gravel road leading up to the canyon was better maintained, the smell of burning rubber was not appealing.
