Owner description: If you spot Ogopogo, the legendary lake monster said to inhabit these waters, you'll make headline news, but other than that, you're sure to enjoy all the recreational activities this 82-mile long lake has to offer: swimming, boating, parasailing and all types of water sports.

The beaches in Kelowna are pretty pathetic; the city allowed the rich folks to build on most of the waterfront, so good beaches are few and far between. The water also tends to be kind of dirty; make sure to rinse off after swimming at the beach, or you could come down with a nasty case of duck itch. The lake is wonderful if a) you can get out to the cleaner depths with a boat or b) you go to another city, like Peachland, Summerland, or Penticton, where the beaches are cleaner, and so is the water.

If your looking for a peaceful, natural place to relax and get away from it all you must pack a tent and find a spot along the Okanagan. This is the most peaceful place on earth. I love visiting B.C. and pretty much anywhere along the lake. Summer or winter in Kelowna, it doesn't matter there is so much to do any time of year.

This is a warm and beautiful lake. The beaches are pretty good, with the Gyro beach being my favourite.

The water is shallow until 150m which makes it a great swim beach. The board walk is so lively with the smalls shops and eateries set up around it.

This is the heart of Kelowna. Anything and everything is due to this lake.

Okanagan Lake is 68 miles long and is simply breath-taking. The waters are clear and warm (in the shallows) and the complete area is surrounded by mountains which qualify for the term 'majestic'. You can travel virtually all the way round the lake, except near Penticton, where the road disappears on one side.
The towns and villages on the lakeside are beautiful, and each is distinctive. Around most of the towns are multiple watersports from para gliding , via jetskis, to sailing, kayaking etc all the way through to leisurely cruising.
Perhaps the highlight of my visit was , on a narrow track of almost single track road, with a shear drop on the edge, to come across initially a single long horned goat, then almost immediately on the next bend, about 14 of these fantastic animals.
