“Lovely family resort.”
Reviewed September 13, 2013

Lots to do for the family. Not so good for a solo person. I didn't know it was so far out of town so I had a long drive into Kelowna each day on a very winding road. Nice looking par 3 golf course. Staff was friendly and I enjoyed the magic show. A place I would like to take the grandkids back to.

Room Tip: If you like to walk, take a room far from the main pool.

Thank you so much for your review. I am glad you had a great time at Lake Okanagan Resort. There are many ammenties at the resort and I am glad that you espcially enjoyed the Magic Show which was part of our Summer Fun Activities.

I am sorry you were not able to enjoy our daily ammenities for it sounded like you had to go into town everyday. You are correct by saying that the resort is located a 20 minute drive from downtown Kelowna on a windy scenic lakeside road. This small distance allows our guests the chance to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city while still remaining in driving distance for many of Kelowna's other Summer Fun Activities.

We look forward to welcoming you and your grandkids back to the resort!

Timeshare units can be hit-or-miss, and this one missed more than hit. The resort is divided into different sections, with larger, newer units toward the center, large chalets near the golf course, and smaller one-bedroom units on the "cliffs" overlooking the beaches. Good views of the lake (and the parking lot in our case), but the units are dark and dated. Ours was dirty upon our arrival, obviously not having been cleaned thoroughly. We asked housekeeping to come back, and they did so graciously, but the same crumbs on the sofa, the food left in the refrigerator, and the old toenails on the carpet were still there when we came back to unpack. Gross. Boating is ridiculously overpriced. The tennis courts looked unused. There are no stables onsite (it’s actually the resort garbage dump). There are no washers/dryers in the 1-bedroom units…had to hike up the hill to a small, dank, filthy laundry room with only 2 washers/2 dryers…for over 150 units? The restaurant is no longer in the beautiful main building, but a level below, and has a very limited selection. If you are not in shape, a small child, or elderly, forget trying to get around; hills to/from beach, restaurant, pools, golf course, main office are straight up and down, and there are no elevators in some buildings. There are golf cart shuttles by request, but the drivers act like they are on a go-cart course. And the road itself into the resort is a nightmare in the last stretch: curvy and narrow, with no shoulders and few guardrails on the cliffs that drop hundreds of feet straight down to the lake. We saw several roadside grave markers coming in and only left the resort once to go to town because we didn’t want to chance the drive back. Upside: if it’s good weather, there are lots of hiking trails, the lake is easily accessible, the pools are lovely, the gold course seems nice (we didn’t use it), and the staff are friendly. But, sorry, we can get those amenities elsewhere.

Room Tip: Ask for units closest to the beach toward the west end, if you must stay here.

Thank you for your review.

The resort does include a variety of types of accommodation including resort rentals, privately owned, and timeshare units which are managed by an outsourced company. I am sorry you were unhappy with your timeshare experience.

The resort is indeed situated on a hill which is why we have two beaches right onto the lake and so many spectacular views from all around the resort. With that being said we do accommodate our guests by offering many parking lots around the resort if you shall wish to drive your own car or shuttle service which is offered by the resort in our peak season. We have a number of vans and golf carts for shuttling so we are able to accommodate any size of group.

All of our accommodation buildings have elevators, other than the Studio Suites (two storey building). If you do not wish to use elevators please feel free to reserve a ground level suite with any of our types of accommodation.

If you expect that you will need to wash your clothes while vacationing at the resort please note that the newer Pointe Beach Villas have private laundry machines and we do have the public laundry machines, which this guest utilized.

The resort is located on Westside Road which is indeed a windy but scenic lakeside road. We are happy that many construction updates have and are planned to continue on this road for it will allow drivers to enjoy the amazing views at a greater ease.

we found this hotel advertised on booking.com at a rate of $118.00 per night. When I called the property to book directly, I was put on hold for 10 minutes. Once the agent returned, she told me that this rate is no longer available and that she now blocked "booking.com" from advertising this rate. I could now book the same room for $180.00. I was shocked. Such poor business practises should be illegal. The agent really did not care at all about my suggestion to honour the posted prize. I have rarely felt so disrespected. I work in a 4 diamond property myself and am proud that we take ownership and accountability to our mistakes. Our agents are trained to provide service that is sound, reasonable and sensitive. This report is out for revenue only. They should be ashamed of themselves. Don't stay there.

Thank you for your review. I have gone ahead and followed up with your posting. This was a very unfortunate situation for the third party company had made the mistake of offering a deal which was not supposed to be valid on wedding weekends. Once our front desk attendant had discovered what had indeed happened she went ahead to explain it to the guest. Unfortunately the phone call did not last long enough for the front desk attendant to finish explaining the third party's mishap and then to proceed with honouring that mistaken rate. Our front desk attendents are indeed trained to honour any mistakes which may arise through Lake Okanagan Resort's or a third party's doing. I do hope with this scenario's confusion being ironed out you will indeed give Lake Okanagan Resort another chance. Kind regards.

Had my wedding at the resort on September 1,2013 absolutely everything was perfect, it was a dream wedding the resort was extremely accommodating from planting flower planters for me to opening the ballroom a day early for me to decorate. Kaitlyn bolder the sales and catering manager went above and beyond to make sure our big day ran exactly perfect not only is she the manager but a wedding planner who knew how to organize and plan every detail no matter how small. The food was over the top amazing we had rave reviews from each and ever guest I HIGHLY recommend the pig roast if you are having an event there. All of the staff knew our names and were more than accommodating to each and every one of our requests. The views and activities for our guests were worth the trip for everyone as we had guest from not one all over the country but all over the world. Some of my family stayed for a week just to enjoy the amenities. The water trampoline, golf and tennis were a huge hit! I can't wait to go back!
Oh and the ladies at the salon beyond wrapture made us look so beautiful!!! They are very talented at what they do.

Room Tip: The villas are new and have spectacular views I recommend this for couples and the terrace for famil...

Once again we had a great time at the hotel, our children especially. When it is sunny and you have great outdoors what else can you ask for as a parent?!? Hotel needs help, especially in a form of different workers, more permanent, not the ones that are here for 1 year on work visa and don't care. Some even hard to understand, english is not my first language, but I have been living in North America for 20 years, so I'm not your usual "fresh off the boat" person.
Older property, needs constant work, maybe that time share money can be used towards upkeep!

After a crazy busy summer in the Okanagan my fiance and I decided to get away from it all for a night of quiet relaxation; we chose Lake Okanagan Resort. After a scenic 20 minute drive we arrived at the resort and were greeted by a cheery front desk attendant who was eager to please and provided all the information we needed for our stay. We stayed in the Point Beach Building which was absolutely beautiful! High end furnishings, jetted tub, super comfy bed and fantastic Wi-Fi! After a leisurely bevvie overlooking the lake we strolled up to the clubhouse for dinner. Our dinner was outstanding! Steak and ribs cooked to perfection. Our server was great; bubbly and attentive. After dinner we went to the outdoor pool bar and listened to some "entertaining" karaoke! We ran into some friends and had some good laughs. We had requested a late check-out which we took full advantage of.. sitting on our deck in the sunshine drinking coffee. Thank you LOR for a fantastic stay!

The word resort should not be used at this place since it run as a time share. It is located at a beautiful area but the windy 15 mins drive is not fun at night. Front desk staff are not the smartest cookies and the housekeeping staff are lazy. (when 80% of staffs are on a travel/work permit...I don't think they really care) The was this pack of ice in the hallway outside of our room, it melted and the bag was sitting there for 3 days! Our garbage in the room has not changed in 2 days. There was one time they left cleaning supplies in our room. The "resort" is not wheelchair friendly either. HOWEVER, the restaurant has really good food. The private beach has a spectacular view.

Thank you for your review. You are correct by saying that Lake Okanagan Resort has timeshares but it actually has a variety of other accommodation types on it's property as well. The accommodation types include privately owned, time shares, as well as resort rentals. Please note that the time share aspect of the resort is outsourced to another company.

I am sorry you did not find the housekeeping to be satisfactory. While the housekeeping staff do have about 10 acres of resort and accommodation to cover daily they should still ensure that all tasks are completed.

The resort is indeed situated on a hill, which is why we have so many amazing lake views! With that being said we do accommodate our guests by offering them full time shuttles around the resort so they do not need to walk the hills. With a simple phone call to the front desk you can have a friendly driver picking you up within minutes. Management is aware that there are a few areas on the resort which are not yet wheelchair friendly and they are working this task into the budget so we can build ramps and elevators where they are needed. But until that happens all of our accommodation buildings, other than the studio suites, have an elevator and ground level suites.

I am glad you enjoyed our property as well as our restaurant's dining experience.
