“Very Nice Boutique Hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

I would highly recommend this property. Guest services were excellent, the room was clean and cosy.
The food was excellent! The location is serene on the water. Great place! Loved the cork floors and the views. The arms wing is modern yet has the same heritage charm as the original hotel. The pool and hot tub have a retro look and feel. This hotel is a real gem.

We decided to treat ourselves to New Year's Eve in one of the luxury suites at the Eldorado. The room itself was all that we expected. A true suite with large sitting area, a small kitchenette, bedroom, bathroom with amazing walk in jetted shower, even a small nook with an additional tub to relax in and look out at the lake. A real feature was lots and lots of big windows, taking full advantage of the hotel's location on Okanagan Lake. Reservations and check-in, check-out were well handled. We used the hotel pool, which is small but since we were the only ones using it that hardly mattered. After toasting in the new year in our room we went to bed...for a while. At about 1:30 in the morning the fire alarm went off. As it was more of a loud buzzer than a traditional alarm it did take us a minute to realize what was happening but then we dressed and went downstairs and exited the hotel. As it turned out it was a false alarm and the hotel cannot be blamed for that. We did think though that the situation could have been handled just a bit better. In particular nobody was providing information to the guests. As none of the staff seemed to have name tags and since New Year's Eve party-garbed guests were difficult to distinguish from staff (which of 30 young, slim young women in short black dresses and heels is food&beverage staff and which is party goer?) that was a problem. In fact after the alarm had been silenced it took us a while to find someone who could tell us that yes, it was a false alarm and yes we could return to our room. We mentioned all this to the front desk the next morning and were pleased that a) they noted it down in writing, b) the pushed back our check-out time to 1:00 p.m. and c) they comped the breakfast buffet we were heading to. Fair enough.

Room Tip: The regular rooms looked a tad small but if you have the money to splurge one of the lakeview luxury...

Dear CanProf,
I re-read your review today and realized that the insightful feedback you provided requires a response. My apologies for respnding earlier. I appreciate the input you have provided. We have taken this feedback and discussed with our team to make us better in handling these situations.
I'm glad to hear that your New Year's at the El was enjoyable. Yes, the 1:30am "false alarm fire alarm" put damper on what had been an enjoyable New Year's Eve for many of our guests. We appreciate your understanding that this was an occurance that was beyond out control; however, we do feel a responsibility to ensure that our guests' stays are memorable for the right reasons. I'm happy to hear that our staff was attentive in the morning to meet our guests needs.
Thank you for the feedback.

I have stayed here on numerous occasions and have always been pleased by the service and the cleanliness of the hotel. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to make me feel welcome. I travel a lot for work and I have plenty of choices of places to stay in Kelowna, but I come here every time.

Room Tip: Choose a room looking out over the lake and avoid the ones near the elevators in the Arms section of...

Very reasonable getaway in the off season. This is a great place to go for an outside lunch by the lake in the summer. We liked the antique furniture in th heritage wing of the hotel and have stayed at the Hotel Eldorado four times . There is a walkway right in front where people can walk and run along by the lake.

Room Tip: Lake view room is lovely. The old heritage section is above the lounge and restuarant , but we are...

Well run Hotel, the hotel has a new wing which I stayed in,- excellent everything- bed, cleanlness, comfortable decor, fridge, free coffee in room.
I also ate at their restaurant, food was very good. Have a great selection of local wines- great to see and taste.

Our small, gabled queen room on the 3rd floor of the original, historic building, looked out on the lake and marina. Very clean, cozy and comfortable with period furnishings and interesting photos of the town and property though the years. Bed was modern and exquisitely comfortable. Though warned about the possibility of noise in that section, we left the windows open to the sounds of the lake, rain drops and a flock of water birds greeting the dawn. I can imagine how summer or weekend stays could get noisy though. Nice selection of snacks in the room,(not free) with good toiletries and robes to get to and from the pool and steam rooms. In room coffee & tea would have been good. Would stay there again, in the off or shoulder season for a longer visit, most likely in a larger room.

Room Tip: Elevators are only in the new section, but accessible down the hallway. No big deal. Standard room...

We stayed in 4 days at the Hotel Eldorado and really enjoyed it. The suite that we had was spacious, quiet, and well decorated. We were right on the the lake and it was so relaxing to sit in the living room and watch the boats on the water. The front desk clerks were friendly and efficent. The hotel maid was snarky when we called the front desk to send her back to our room to finish fixing our bed. She gave every excuse as to why she did not fix the bed rather than just doing her job and leaving! Oh, well - not everything can be perfect!

Room Tip: Request a higher floor, the new wing and the waterfront.
