Although chalets can appear almost indistinguishable from each other, Grizzly Lodge is the ski-in green building beside grey Stonegate (facing Village's Crystal Inn). The two juxtaposed seem very close, save the big price tag, slightly better ski-out from Stonegate--without tunnel trek, and larger washrooms (but no individual hot tubs) at Grizzly. The newness of Grizzly Lodge was its appeal over tired ski accommodations like Chateau on the Ridge. Still, beds and Central Reservations' housekeeping at both places seemed less than mediocre; as at Chateau, surface-cleaned units didn't have mid-week stock like tissue & shampoo replenished, nor beds fully made...and a previously broken bedroom doorlatch here or torn blinds there weren't adequately fixed. However, I figure the relatively low pay scale & transience of hospitality workers would be factors. (In repeated trips to Big White, I've only ever seen three Canadian staff, reportedly by U.K. staff due to an overabundance of foreign labour--80% being Aussies and some Kiwis, due to "recent Australian buy-out.") Even though Grizzly is closer than Chateau to the Village, unlike Stonebridge's location (with 6 Degrees Bistro), it was a small hike from Grizzly to restaurants or to the Market--uphill past Kids' Ski School. However, the ease of late Checkin & shuttles through Central Reservations, rather than Rent Chalets' Big White office, provide some certainty I might book again through Central Reservations without alternatives; most of the mountain's vacation condos are managed by them. Unless laundry facilities are a 'must' (only available in 3-bed units at Grizzly Lodge), either Grizzly Lodge or Stonegate are comfortable accommodations that I would rebook, since both of them are good skiers' comparisons.

Stayed for two weeks, awesome location, ski in/out had a little walk but would have most likely been easier if the season gave more snow. Didn't bother us. Stayed in room 303, had plenty of space, two bathrooms and both couches folded out into sofa beds (1 single, 1 double). Room came with one car park in the parkade underneath, and had no problems getting free overnight parking from Central Reservations for visiting friends. Had an issue with the fireplace and after telling Central Reservations the problem was solved. Staff were all so friendly and very accommodating. The only thing that we weren't impressed with was the housekeeping. They come every Tues, Thur and Saturday and the card in the room said for every stay longer than 5 days the linen would be changed, floors cleaned, fresh towels, rubbish taken etc. half way through the stay. We were given fresh towels and rubbish was taken on all the right days however our bed was only made once (the very first day housekeeping came), linen didn't get changed at all and the floors didn't get cleaned at all. Little things that would have made our stay more comfortable. Everything else was great.

Wow what a lovely condo 303 is. Take the lift to 3rd floor from underground car park. With two full bathrooms it suits couples and families. Decor has been updated and new appliances added. Large queen bed and pull out queen sofa bed. Big TV with telus pay TV and free international calls. Blue ray player and sound bar for extra movie experience. TV also in bedroom. AMAZING views of mountains from all windows. Full kitchen and lovely dining table for 6. Proximity to VCM and gonola/chairlift is great. Communal hot tub, sauna, laundry and pool table. We had an awesome stay and can't wait to come back. Great value. Great stay.

Stayed here for 10 days skiing. There is no drying room or cupboard, so you have to hang everything to dry if wet. The entrance is cramped and with 5 people trying to get gear on before going out to ski, it proved a problem. The kitchen is cramped and the oven is a bit hit and miss. The worst bit was being asked to pay for a problem with the apartment, that should have been part of maintence and therefore not charged as damaged to the property. The hot tub cover came loose during stay, which was not a very good design, and already about to fall apart. Convenient to the village. The Ski in is ok, but the ski out is usually a 100-200 m trudge uphill, unless you count walking uphill in your skis ski out.

The apartment was not serviced regularly and had to call housekeeping for new towels and the linen to be changed.

The lodge was a bit tired and run down.
First floor room was a bit noisy from upstairs.
Good proximity to main village area and easy to walk.
Kitchen facilities were a bit cramped and awkward to use.
Parking facilities were good as well as ski storage.
SKI in Ski out just it was a bit awkward to do. Had to walk most of it to get to a slope.

Room tip: Go for a top floor with a balcony

Dear Frederick,

Thanks for sharing your feedback with the travel community. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Grizzly Lodge and found the parking and ski storage well suited to your liking. This is a ski to / ski from building which means that there is a short walk between the slopes and the building. We hope you will return again soon.
