Located at the Gray Monk winery -- the restaurant is one of the must have experiences in the Okanagan.
We went for a 5:30 dinner and were treated exceptionally well. The food presentation and taste was 5 star. Without telling the staff, we celebrated a 62 and 82 yr birthday and couldn't have had a better time. The treatment was as if we were celebrating and the professional serving staff -- headed by Marie was fantastic.
The unobstructed views of the beautiful lake make for picture taking.... not too mention the grande expanse of vinyards below the restaurant deck and reaching out for miles. For extra entertainment we witnessed deer wandering about in the vinyards.
We had the duck [ recommended by my wife] while our friend had the lamb [asking for it medium well ] as did i [ asking for it rare]. Everything arrived as we had asked for.
The desserts are a treat so leave room... My berry flam was excellent while the two women each had the raspberry crem brule..Fantastic
again -- a strong recommendation for visit and meal.

We have dined here several times over the years and always thought the food to be excellent and you can't beat the patio location/view. We were so pleased to learn on this repeat visit, that nothing has changed from that perspective.

The remodel of the wine store is a big improvement. More moving around room and the staff is still friendly and helpful. The elevator option down to the restraurant/patio is a welcome enhancement too.

Our meals this recent trip were dungeoness crab and heirloom tomato appetizer which was delicious; the tomatoes were great with the delicate crab taste. For dinners we had lamb tenderoin and seafood pasta. Both were excellent. Our server was helpful and friendly. Desert was a chocolate cake layered with peach and apricots and it was a big hit too.

Then - almost magicaly - shortly after about 7:00 pm the sunscreens all lifted - like a curtain on a stage - and there was the full lake view with the sun just starting to set behind the mountain. The colours were fabulous and the extra breeze brought about by the screens lifting was heavenly..

We're glad they didn't change the parts that were working well! Oh...and the Pinot Gris is still terrific too!

I ate at the Grapevine with my spouse and another couple. Of course we did wine tasting first and spent a lot of time going through the gift shop which was full of interesting things.

The view was AMAZING. The service was fantastic and the recommendations by the waitress for each was also fantastic.
There was a family next to us having a birthday party however with the set up I did not even notice it until they started singing. It was great that we enjoyed our elegance while they enjoyed their relaxed family environment .

The parking lot was an experience on its own. You don't need any wine to enjoy the walk up the oddly slanted parking lot to your car. Although I am certain the wine made the walk more interesting then it really was.

I definitely recommend eating here.

Over the past 25 years, BC's Okanagan Valley has developed a wine and food culture to rival that of Sonoma and Napa. One of the pioneers in this extreme makeover was Grey Monk Winery, which began producing quality vinifera wines way back in the 70s. Although we have enjoyed Grey Monk's wines, especially now that their tasting room is in its spectacular new timbered building, we have not eaten there since the Grapevine opened a few years ago. That was a mistake.

Only a few minutes north of Kelowna, and three hours and five from Vancouver and Seattle respectfully, the winery is located above beautiful Lake Okanagan, and the restaurant, surrounded by 100 acres of vineyard, takes full advantage of its magnificent setting, placing diners on a broad veranda that provides stunning views north and south along the lake and low mountains. As we ate and sipped wine, the sun slowly slipped behind the mountains to our west, and the sunscreens which help keep the dining area cool during summer days, rose magically, revealing an astonishing panorama up and down the valley that would be hard to match anywhere in the world.

But as we know, lots of restaurants can by lovely locations and turn out mediocre food. This is certainly not the case with the Grapevine -- far from it. From the local goat cheese and apple salad to my flavourful lamb leg and sirloin, the food was absolutely outstanding. Chef Willi Franz has earned lots of awards in the last few years, and it's easy to see why. Accompanied by the winery's own dry and delicious chardonnay and their rich Odyssey cabernet and merlot (while the white grapes are grown primarily on the vineyards surrounding the winery, Gray Monk accesses its reds from top vineyards in the southern Okanagan) and the whole experience enhanced by friendly, efficient service, this is a great restaurant in a fabulous location.

We visited the restaurant after a tour of the vineyard and ordered the set menu, green salad, duck confit and creme brulee to finish. The green salad was really tasty, fresh and well balanced. The duck confit was served with spatzli (german egg noodles) and cranberry marmalade, the duck was so tender and melted in the mouth. When dessert arrived it was a feast on the eye before the taste buds. The views over the lake are stunning and make this a stunning setting for lunch. The staff make you very welcome and everything was of top quality you can see why the chef was voted chef's chef of the year.
