“Higher priced then expected for a buffet that was ok”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

The serving staff were great, food ok, ridiculous high price for the overall evening. We had a buffet dinner for Dad's B-Day dinner. The room was great. Once we were done dinner we got our bills (individual so we weren't automatically billed 15% tip) and ouch! My son and I had to pay $75 before tip! for a buffet! For what we got...let's just say we won't be back again. Especially after I head about the hassle Mom got from the chef while going over the menu, how many we were going to have and the original price that was set, was raised repeatedly. Not worth a second look from any of us (25 people for the party).

Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant.
We are always trying to impress our guests and appreciate receiving feedback so that we can do a better job in the future.
In this situation our chef created a custom menu for a reservation of 23 guests. The initial menu consisted of a three course dinner which included two choices of protein, salad, chef’s vegetables, rice, potatoes, appetizers and dessert at a cost of $25 p/p.
After a number of emails and changes to the initial menu, we recreated a Mexican buffet menu with three choices of protein, smoked salmon, antipasto platter with artisan cheeses. In addition to these changes, everything had to be gluten free! Finally, we received a recipe for a Mexican flan to which we were requested to make as well!
We explained to our customer that we can do anything but we had to increase the price to $30 p/p due to the increased labour and food costs associated with the amount and variety of food changes. Our customer was accepting of the price change and we even provided the Birthday guest with a complimentary meal!
During the course of the evening it became apparent that the guests were not aware that they were responsible for the cost associated for their dinner – many of them were under the assumption that the organizer of the event was paying for their meals. So it was somewhat of a surprise to them when our staff had to communicate the arrangement put in place for the evening.
In various conversations with our servers, the Organizer expressed how delicious the food was and requested to take all leftover food home! (15 to go boxes). We believe and are accepting that our customers are entitled to an honest opinion however, we were completely surprised when the review indicated that the food was “so so” when their actions indicated the opposite!
After we received the review, we met with our staff to discuss the evening and to request feedback from them on how they felt the evening went. They indicated they received great comments from our customers and felt it went very well but were extremely surprised when they only received a 7% gratuity.
We always strive to meet our customers’ expectations but feel in this case we would never have gotten it right!
Sincerely,
Martin CreutzLechleitner

“Good Breakfast.”
Reviewed November 16, 2012

The food we had was a breakfast. It was very tasty and well presented. We were on our way home from Alberta and were driving by on the highway and saw the sign for breakfast.

“Not a true Dutch Pancake House”
Reviewed November 15, 2012

Had the corned beef hash. Had absolutely no flavour. Huge chucks of uncooked peppers and onions in it. They used deli corned beef. Restaurant almost empty, but it took over 30 mins to get our order. Did not come back to refill our coffee. Overpriced.

“Excellent breakfats or lunch choice in Kamloops”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

Excellent selection of pannekoek (Dutch pancakes) but if you prefer traditional North American breakfast like omelets, French toast, etc., they have it all.
I like it better than a chain like Smitty's. Service was fast and very pleasant. I had the Amsterdam pannekoek with Hollandaise sauce and I loved it and the other members of my party were also pleased with their choices.
The only thing I didn't like was the temperature. we were in the annex which is heated by radiant heat -- where the heat reached you it was too hot, elsewhere on your body it was too cold! (Radiant heat does not heat the air, only the surfaces it reaches).

Thanks for your input! We have listened and did install a pellet stove on the patio last week. The patio is way more cosy now and the heat is evenly distributed! We are pleased to know you enjoyed your meal!
