We intended to stop here for a short break but stayed much longer to enjoy the sandy beach (with lifeguards during day), spray park, and grassy area for a picnic. Great for our 3-year-old to blow off steam after a morning stuck travelling in the van.

The public bathrooms (with change tables) as well as separate change rooms were very handy.

Very scenic and beautiful. A large park. Good for a peaceful stroll or for picnics. There is a monument that shows the levels the water reached when flooding occurred in the past.

Riverside Park in Kamloops is a great place to spend the day. It is well-maintained and clean, with lots of lovely shade trees and plenty of grassy areas and picnic tables. There is a roped-off swimming area along the river with a sandy beach, and a water park and tennis courts.... There was a free concert by the Kamloops Orchestra on the evening we were there which was so enjoyable!

My family and I had a blast at this park. It had everything for a family to enjoy. We spent the whole day swimming in the river, playing in the sand, splashing in the water park and relaxing watching a blues band play in the evening. LOVED IT!!!

Beautiful, though unexceptional, urban park with lots of beautiful shade trees and grassy areas. Tennis courts, kids' water park, picnic tables, concession stand, all of which are good.
The beach is a steep slope, compared to most beaches, and the sand is unattractive and dirty looking. The South Thompson River is usually cool to cold, but the days are typically hot, so the water is an irresistible lure. The current is strong, so swimming is limited and requires diligence with the kids or anyone for that matter.
Goose droppings are always a problem, but the kids love the wild birds, including ducks and swans.
Free music concerts at the bandshell every night in July-August, and several special events throughout the year make Riverside perpetually popular. Still, it is well-maintained with lovely flower gardens and walkways. One paved walk links Riverside to Pioneer Park about a kilometre away. It's a great route, but spring flooding blocks the path at the railway bridge. Bummer.
