Never quite sure what to expect when it's a heritage hotel but was pleasantly surprised. Nicely renovated room - luxury King room tucked away near the end of the hallway. Clean with all the modern amenities you could want. You can hear the noise from the hallways but I have yet to be in a hotel where that is not common. Fabulous location in "old" Kamloops, perfect for us as we like unique eateries and funky shops just outside the hotel. Park and river just minutes to walk. Great value with breakfast for the price we paid.

Booked this hotel without any prior knowledge as it was located downtown and the rate was reasonable. Turned out to be a really pleasant experience. The hotel is newly (and tastefully) renovated. The rooms are small, but very comfortable and quiet. There were the usual amenities - fridge, coffee maker, iron, etc., but also a kettle for making tea (real milk and cream in the fridge - not just powdered creamer), and bottled water. Breakfast was included and it wasn't the usual toast and cold cereal - you had a choice of hot or cold breakfast, eggs, bacon, sausage, cereal, yogurt, toast, etc. Staff were extremely helpful and even allowed us to use their printer one day. Definitely a five-star rating for this hotel. Would definitely stay there again and will recommend to friends.

The hotel had just re-opened after renovations and was very enjoyable. It has a real heritage feel in an excellent location downtown. Everything seems to have been brought up to modern standards. The only slightly negative thing I can say is that the room was small.

Hotel is beautiful from exterior and interior. It's renovated, but still old and thus noisy. It's recommended to pay caution to the situation and type of room. A room facing the airconditioning units and/or elevator shaft is extremely noisy - with ear plugs it's doable. Double bed rooms are apparently a new standard in this hotel; since the bed is only 1m20 in width. The queen size bed is 1m40. So basically the beds are very small compared to other hotels. Beds are also springy, which can cause your partner to wake when you turn - or vice versa.

The rooms are clean. Breakfast is nice, but not too extensive. Location is superb right in down town Kamloops. Parking can be done for free in the lot next to the hotel. A voucher needs to be retrieved from the reception.

Overall not recommended due to bed sizes, noise and price.

Our first impression of the hotel was extremely poor however, we would undoubtedly choose to stay with the Plaza Hotel our next time in Kamloops. We bought a travel voucher off of deal find and could not contact the hotel via telephone. Robynn, the front desk manager, was extremely prompt at responding to us through email. Upon arrival at the hotel, we quickly learned the hotel was still undergoing renovations. The 1-3 floors were extremely messy and dusty due to the renovations, the restaurant and lounge were not complete and there was no internet access in any of the rooms. We were initially given a queen room on the fourth floor. It was small but had a cute ambiance to it. However, there were no lamps or light switches in our room. Amy, at the front desk quickly chatted our situation over with her supervisor and had us upgraded immediately to a suite on the fifth floor. The room was extremely spacious and to our satisfaction. Only after unpacking once more, we found several pieces of hair all across the bedsheets. Once again we trekked down to Amy at the front desk who sincerely apologized and had a manager attend to our needs. As this was taking place later in the evening the housekeepers had already left the hotel so we were once again moved to a different room. We were moved to a king sized bedroom where we stayed for the rest of the evening. For all our troubles, we were given an additional $50.00 voucher for anything in the downtown core of Kamloops and were promised an upgrade to the suite on the fifth floor on our return stay. Aside from all the shuffling, our stay could not have been more pleasant. The staff were all extremely polite and accommodating.

We stayed in Kamloops as part of the Rocky Mountaineer train trip stop over. Fifty of us descended on this hotel at the same time - the staff were fabulous - very accommodating and organized. The room was well appointed with a king size bed. It was clean and comfortable and recently been renovated. Would definitely stay there again.

I bought our travel voucher through Dealfind, was a great offering, $129.00 for the voucher, and that included $50.00 Gas card, $50.00 voucher for anything we wanted to buy in the downtown core, and 2 $13.00 breakfast coupons for "Hello Toast" restaurant across the street. I had a bit of a problem contacting the hotel at first, apparently their phone system was being overhauled, and I was nervous about my booking date, so I tried their email address. I was immediately contacted back via email that this was the issue with phones. For my trouble, Robyn, front desk manager, upgraded us to the 5th (top) floor with a mountain view, and waived their usual pet fee ($20.00). We arrived to find the hotel without any restaurant or lounge, as they were doing extensive renovations. Amy and Julien at the front desk were awesome. We knew ahead of time about the renovations, so were not surprised that this was taking place.Julien offered Bo, our dog, a great pet bed to take up to the room. Our room was small, but beautifully appointed with everything that we would expect, as well as a great view of the desert mountains of Kamloops. This hotel is centered smack in the middle of Victoria street, downtown, and has so many shops and a short walk to the park. One thing we did not know, is that the Plaza is non-smoking, completely. The staff was excellent, I needed to contact my friend via facebook, and they allowed me to use their own computer, as the ones in the lobby had not been installed yet. Overall, the staff were so very pleasant and accomodating, the room was great, this Old Grand Dame will surely be a destination hotel when she is done, the work they are doing so far looks really exciting. We are going back in the summer, and can't wait to stay with this group again.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the mountain are on Victoria street, great rooms and view, but this is a bit of a party...
