We were very pleased with our stay here. We were actually in for a week for a family emergency. The staff was very helpful and accommodating.

Kamloops is not a hopping town in early December, but the hotel is within walking distance of many good restaurants (including Hello Toast! and Hothouse Bistro, to name two.) It's also convenient to the hospital and other facilities.

The free breakfast (continental but substantial) and free wireless (not fast, but it worked consistently) made this hotel a particuarly good value. Parking is also free. There's also an indoor pool and game room, in case you have kids along. Rooms are not large, but they were clean and included all the expected amenities for an affordable business hotel.

Not sure if I'll ever be in Kamloops again, but I would certainly consider the Thompson for a future stay.

This is not a bad hotel for people who are passing by. Even though it is situated in the downtown district, it seemed a bit dead. For a nice dinner try going to the shopping district for some nice restaurant favourites.

The room and bathroom was clean. There wasn't anything special here, just a basic room. The towels were also clean as well.

The customer service was great. They really made you feel like they wanted you to return and went the extra mile to direct you around the hotel. Very courteous staff.

There is a games room with a large t.v. to occupy a good hour with. The games room includes a half a dozen arcade games, 2 pool tables and of course, the large television with a couch.

The continental breakfast was average but beautifully displayed.

Under cover parking is available at no extra cost.

Overall, it was a great stay.

Liked this one a lot. Stayed here for just one night in Sep 06. Free underground parking, it is a public car park but hotel guests are exempt from the charges. The reception staff were very polite straight after I checked in the conference manager introduced himself and he showed me the business centre and that I could use the internet and phones in there for free to check home emails etc, top man. The room had two double beds in it, TV and phone. Room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom, good air con unit in the room too. At £45 a night this was sensational value, UK users would expect to pay about £130 a night for this sort of accommodation in the UK. Great value, great staff and great venue.

This hotel was booked for us via the Rocky Mountaineer Railway as our overnight stopover. We were incorrectly given a smoking room which was immediately rectified by the reception staff who apologised profusely. Rooms were clean and reasonably sized. The hotel was equipped with large games room and great pool which sadly we did not have time to use. Unfortunately we turned up on a Sunday night and found it extremely difficult to find a restaurant open. We finally found "The Keg" Steakhouse which was wonderful - great food , great service, great price! The waitress found out that it was our anniversary and served us a complimentary dessert - a huge slice of mocha ice cream cheesecake. We decided to complete our night of celebration with a bottle of champers!

Stayed here for one night en route to Vancouver. I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The staff were really friendly and efficient. The rooms are large and clean with all the facilities you need. Despite being right next to the train tracks, we weren't disturbed by noise. The pool and hot tub were really nice - there was also a gym and games room which looked good. The restaurant at the hotel is apparentlty quite new, the breakfast buffet was excellent. Kamloops itself was very quiet (to be fair it was a Monday evening), but we wandered down the main street and found a great bar serving over 100 different types of beer and a little further down a really excellent Italian restaurant. I would recommend The Thompson Hotel to anyone staying over in Kamloops.

Stayed for one night on route to Whistler. Comfortable and clean. A little dead after dark and never managed to find the bar. Unless you want to eat at the hotel it is a long and very hot walk (in summer) to find any alternatives. Excellent breakfast, one of the best we had on our holiday. Kamloops is a bit of a backwater with not much to attract tourists.
