Holiday Inn Express - Kamloops
Ranked #13 of 54 Hotels in Kamloops
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed April 8, 2008

The Holiday Inn Express Kamloops is one of the better accommodations given the limited choices available in the area. It's located just off the highway and is a decent property; it’s clean and in relatively good condition. Some may not like the location as it’s quite far from the airport and downtown. Nothing is really within walking distance, but a number of plazas with shopping and restaurants are a short 3-5 minute drive.

The free breakfast is nothing to write home about. In fact, I would suggest skipping it altogether. Still, the Holiday Inn Express is pretty good value. If you'll have a vehicle and need quick access to the highway, this is a good bet.

It's really a 3.5.

En-route to Sun Peaks for skiing we stopped over in Kamloops.
The Hotel was under upgrades, which was understandable. We
booked lessons on the hill for my son and requested a wake-up call. The call never came, we slept in and my son missed his
lesson. A complaint at the front desk as well as a follow-up E-mail were disregarded, and never even elicited an apology.
Even the fellow behind me in line checking out mentioned I
should have been compensated , but the hotel was unapologetic

We just stayed there for 1 night, on our way from Vancouver to Jasper. No luxury of course, but very clean and spacious room. The location wasn't too good. Rather far from the restaurants. But this wasn't upsetting, as the town is very tiny, so it took us less than 10 minutes by car to get to downtown. We were very well received at check-in, and being Priority Members, they gave us the penthouse room, with free mineral water and excelent quality amenities. I must say it was far better than many 4-5 star hotels we stayed at, during this trip to Canada.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel in July 2007 on our way from Vancouver to Jasper. We had decided to break the journey at Kamloops and I am a great supporter of the Holiday Inn system because they are usually at a standard that will suit most. This is no different from that pattern. The rooms were clean, spacious and all had internet. When travelling in the States or Canada having a free internet connection to use Skype on is a real money saver when wanting to talk to people in the UK. The pool area is clean and safe and there is a fitness area. The breakfast was normal for a continental breakfast and there was enough for everyone. Overall this was a good hotel up to the standards expected from this chain. We went the "pretty way" from Vancouver to Kamloops via route 1 and 97 through Hope and Cache Creek. On the way is Hells Gate airtram and it is the deepest river point in North Amenrica. It is also reported to be Haunted.

We stayed here for one night 06.08.07 while travelling with the Rocky Mountaineer on the Western Explorer trip. The hotel was clean and tidy and the staff were all very friendly. The nice pool area was unexpected for a Holiday Inn. The only down sides were the fact that it was quite a way out fo the main town and if you travel as part of the Goldleaf package on the Rocy Mountaineer your evening meal is included. The only choice you have here is the Indian restaurant next to the hotel, although the receptionist seemed to think you can order "western food" in there - you can't. Very friendly staff but the food was nothing to write home about. However that's not the hotel's fault. The breakfast buffet was good and overall a very enjoyable stop over.

We loved this hotel. It's great value for the money. After a week of travelling to a new place daily, it was better than all the hotels we had stayed in and less expensive than many, especially when you consider the free breakfast. Bravo!
